Roosters coach Trent Robinson has shut down [Hooper driven] speculation he’s trying to sign Mitch Moses, describing recent reports as people “trying to create some news” and that he hasn’t spoken with the Eels halfback at all after missing out on his signature a few years ago.
It adds another layer of intrigue to Friday’s clash between the high-flying Roosters and the battling Eels, with Moses’ future becoming a talking point last week after suggestions he didn’t want to see out the rest of his contract.
The State of Origin star is signed until the end of 2026 with a clause that could keep him in blue and gold for a further two seasons, but the Roosters have been linked with him if he decides to leave early given they have plenty of money to spend with a number of stars leaving.
But Robinson has put an end to those rumours, with the Roosters looking to re-sign Sam Walker as soon as possible.

“He’s an outstanding player and we tried to sign him a few years ago, but there hasn’t been one conversation about that,” the three-time premiership-winning coach said.
“That’s the madness of our reporting and trying to create some news because there hasn’t been one discussion about that.
“It’s a little bit frustrating because it creates noise in the middle of trying to re-sign Sam and then someone brings up something about someone you’ve never spoken about.
“It creates noise for three or four days, and we’re still talking about it now. That’s our world.”
The Roosters have made it clear they want to extend Walker’s deal beyond 2025, with the young half producing some amazing plays in attack but also showing how he’s matured as a playmaker. The Roosters are keen to re-sign Sam Walker on the back of his brilliant season. “It’s the best space I’ve seen him in his career with us,” Robinson said.
“He’s really clear on his game, he’s really clear on the team’s game, so I’m really proud of where he’s got to and where he’s working towards.”
Walker isn’t the only one working towards something, with the Roosters to unleash rugby convert Mark Nawaqanitawase this weekend in reserve grade against the Bulldogs at Wentworth Park.
Nawaqanitawase officially started training with the club on Saturday but has already impressed his teammates, with the plan for him to familiarise himself with the sport for the next few weeks having just returned from sevens duties at the Olympics.

No way sam walker leaves the roosters
Shut down the Moses talk because we really want Dylan Brown and he's potentially available to talk to next year.Ryles get to work now Moses is in place for 2 years DB and Hopgood are the next must keeps.
Let them take Brown and we can go after wishart from the storm, unlike Brown wishart is a competitor and gives his all every time he runs out onto the field.
On what universe can someone say that Brown is not a competitor and does not give his all.
He's still needs to be developed a bit more but DB always gives effort.
I thought you were smarter than that HKF, God knows what some of the scores against us would be without DB, and that's just the defensive side.
Tell me where else our attack has come from and who do you think is the most heavily marked Parra player when Moses is not playing...... I'm astounded that someone with your nounce doesn't see that. Failure is not a disease HKF, don't panic you can't catch it. Just stand up against it.
If you think he is a competitor than good for you, I didn't say he doesn't do good things or never puts effort in. He is laid back and often drifts in and out of games, he even said he doesn't watch games and didn't know we were at the bottom of the table. He is not a competitor.
Sounds like "competitor" is meaningless in the sense you create it.
He is much more involved than Hayne was and I'm a Hayne fan.
HKF you need to understand that kids today are very different, loyalty comes with age and experience and if he stays the distance he will be as rabid as any of us in supporting Parra. Chase him away and we get nothing.....tell me who doesn't drift in and out of games playing for Parra, Guth & Moses are the only two I can think of. Hopgood certainly has the metal, but how long will he stay? no reason for him to be loyal at this point of time. Those Penrith kids have grown into that loyalty in the long term, thats where we need to be. Its only the experienced and long term Parra players that can instill this into our young players. Its about building a culture, get it right and the premierships come. Get it wrong and we become just another loser.
Listen to Coryn's post's, he want us to build that culture around Moses, Brown and Hopgood.
Poppa you have been on this site a long time and if your memory serves you well you will know I have been one of if not the biggest dylan fan on this site but there comes a time when you have to stop waiting for the penny to drop. We have been making excuses for dylan for way too long, coryn still is, it's not like dylan is inexperienced, he has been in first grade for about 7 years now. I want him to be an eel but only if he is going to turn up every week and not drift in and out of games like he has since making his debut.
I'm not going to argue with anyone about their opinion of what being a competitor is, as far as I'm concerned dylan is not competitive by nature, that doesn't mean he never competes, he does at times.
We all want the club to change the culture but we aren't willing to lose anyone that has talent, if everything stays the same then everything stays the same. You have to be prepared to get past the fear of missing out, we fear dylan will go somewhere else and finally reach his full potential and we will be envious. Problem for us is we aren't getting his full potential even though we are paying for it. The club won't improve if we keep accepting mediocrity, if you aren't going to give us your best on a consistent basis then we'll find someone who will, that's what the winners do.
We can all sit here and make suggestions about what players to cut and sign but it's just fan talk, at the end of the day it's up to dylan to prove he deserves to be here long term, no more excuses, it's time.
Wishart is definitely no replacement for DB
The DB that plays at his best no but what about the other 20 games a year, definitely a yes. We need more competitors in our squad.
