Rival club chasing Eels young gun again

The New Zealand Warriors are keen on poaching Eels young gun Dylan Brown, according to a report by The Sydney Morning Herald

“However, the 19-year old is sees his future at Parramatta.

Set to come off-contract at the end of next season, Brown will be in high demand should he remain unsigned through November 1.

The Warriors tried to snare the youngster last off-season with a deal worth over $3 million, the biggest ever offered to a player yet to play a game.

“It was definitely new and got my name out there a bit,” Brown told The Sydney Morning Herald.

“It just shows you what can happen overnight, the amount of reach it can get to. I know how to handle myself now, what to say and what not to say to keep out of trouble.”

The Eels were the only ever club to show interest in the Auckland product, which could vastly boost the chances of him staying loyal to the Sydney club.

“The first and only one,” Brown said.

“There was never really a door open for me. Parramatta was the only club that liked me, so I decided to jump onto them and here I am now.

“[Coach] Brad [Arthur] has obviously talked about me being a long-term half. I know that Parra is a good place to stay. I will leave all the work to my manager.”

Asked if he would be keen to remain at Parramatta, Brown said: “Yeah, I’m comfortable here. This is the first club that wanted me, I have that respect for them and likewise they have respect for me.

“Hopefully I can stick around for a long while. [Moses’ re-signing] helps, he’s the first halfback I’ve played with in first grade. We both complement each other’s games, I feel. Him being here for a while makes it more comfortable for me to make my decision.”

  • As long as he doesn't get injured for the rest of this season, his real NRL worth will become apparent over the coming 7 rounds, starting today v Warriors. It's been a long time between drinks finding a world class half breaking out of our junior system.

The last great half coming out of our juniors was Tim Smith who could have been anything if he had a much better Eels culture to spring out of back then.

I felt sad for Tim and our club watching his gradual demise. If only he stayed off the drink, etc, and eat really well.

Mitchell Moses is another of our juniors so in the years to come from today, we might be in for a great NRL ride if Dylan & Mitchell fire behind a powerful Eels forward pack we're still developing.

  • How stupid are they? They could have something good with Nikorima and CHT. If they’re going hard I hope they lose CHT the losers.

  • So much hype on Dylan, yet to see anything that impresses me.

    • Brissyeel knocks it on the head.

Dylan is only 19, when he’s 21-22 he’s going to a superstar of the game the way he’s tracking.

    • Blue eel if you watch closely you can see his class every game, even if its subtile hints.

Hes got some class, dont worry about that.

Before he was injured he was very impressive, since he's come back he's been a bit of a passenger but he will come good mate.

Andrew Johns has the highest praise for him so thats saying something, Johns cant stop gushing over him.

      • also what I liked, today whilst he was more quiet first half , he stepped it up more when game on the line , he is still a work in progress But easily a keeper

        • He’s one of those players that seem to have plenty of time to do what ever they want.  He’s got loads of class just needs to keep head down to realise his potential.

          • He often finds the right option close to the line, he runs at the defence and tries to break through, he’s got decent vision and excellent composure. He will only get better.

  • So obvious question why hasn't the club extended his contract already?
