Resting Players - Magic Round

With all the rain in Brisbane and the likeliness of playing on a very chopped up/heavy ground come Sunday Afternoon, should we be looking at resting a few players to avoid the potential risk of injury?

We have had a very tough couple of weeks with the Cowboys in a very hot Darwin and then the Panthers out in Penrith, a third taxing week in a row is not really what we need right now to be honest.

If we lose a Paulo, Brown or especially Moses to a long term injury it is just about season over in my opinion, we need to keep these players as safe as possible.

It is well documented and I know there are already plenty of players on the sidelines but we need these players to be there later in the year if we are to be competetive.

You never want to lose a game but in the grand scheme of things I'd almost sacrifice a game like this in order to come out unscathed on the other side.

Thoughts?

  • This makes me angry. How much do we coddle our sports stars these days?! Rest no one. Play hard and get the job done. Simple as that. If, if, if. If my Aunty had a dick she'd be my uncle.

    • Spot on Nidge, I actually think there would be less chance of injury and I think our game will be better suited than the Roosters, its a good opportunity.....John Boyle hmmmm expert....no, more a blowin!

      • Good opportunity for what?

We have already beaten the Storm and Penrith away, there is nothing to prove here.

I bet you wouldn't be happy come Sunday Night if Moses was to do an ACL after trying to change direction on an uneven part of the pitch.

        • Read on no brains!

          • Bit moody today old man?

        • That could happen anytime

    • They are payed to play and if they get injured then shit happens .as its all part of the game

      • That's right Hec.

A few weeks out from the semis with no ramifications from a loss. Maybe.

        But not now.

  • NRLPhysio was asked about this the other day and his comment was that there is less likelihod of injury from a soft track than a dry, there is more "give" and absorbency so risk of injury is lower

    • Rock if it was a fresh playing surface I would agree but we are talking about the possibility of something as shifty as Brookvale Oval was.

I would be monitoring the conditions if i were the coaching staff, especially with the suspicion that Moses already has a niggle.
