Ok I know this is a Parra fan site and there is great deal of hate towards this guy.....BUT its interesting that a player goes to a club gets hoodwinked by Gus after we are in a GF goes through the hard times with this new club and gets binned off for the next shinny thing...tbh the bulldogs fucking suck and for Gus to use the Media to now create a narrative that he has no disipline and is of no value ......is interesting ......I hope they fall in a heap .....Im all in for the warriors this year....The bulldogs and Galvin SUCK

Never disliked Mahoney he did what he thought was best and bought into the Gus bullshit story.
I reckon if we gave him a lifeline, I think he would seriously play at his previous heights at Parra. Dogs never really saw the best of him so if he came back I'd welcome him.
Only one very rare occasions do you get to see someone get what they deserve and Reed is getting exactly what we could all see was going to happen when you believe Gould and his bullshit
Never had an issue with Reed, but Ryley Smith is our long term 9 now. If we are to sign a veteran 9 needs to be a different style of 9. Ryley is basically a younger Mahoney on the rise.

Gus really is a POS. He threw everything at Reed including the Captaincy. Reed busted his arse over there even when they were getting hammered. Now the good times have started he's being shown the door but not in a straightforward, man-to-man way, he's being slowly ostracised and turned against by his club. Classic Gus.
I was dirty on our club for allowing him to be snatched away to start with. The Eels didn't fight hard enough to keep him and I'd say BA's son may have been the reason. Then we hired 3 x ACL old man Hodgson. (Our club really does screw up on the regular). Reed leaving was the beginning of the downfall imo. Admittedly I was filthy on Reed too.
With Smith on board we probably don't need Reed now but I would be ok if he was keen to return. I hope he lands on his feet somewhere.
Bringing Hodgson for 2 years was proof that MA was the plan, as to why they only offered Mahoney 2 years at first with the intent of moving on with MA.
I agree with Frank that if given the chance he will be back to peak form.

gus has form at 3 clubs
at the roosters , he got rid of graham murray after he got them to a gf, every year whilst he was there it felt like they had a new halfback . Roosters were a transit lounge when he was there
at Penrith we know all the coaches theta got turfed but everyone forgets all the players that never saw out there contracts . Big name signings with him always get the boot with new shiny toys etc .. best example Trent merrin from saints , paid big bucks to lure him on an4 year deal at his peak and he didn't see out his contract and career bssically over. At the dogs the turnover and amount of players not seeing out contracts astronomical.
in regards to this topic , Mahoney not required Ryley smith is basically a clone and only a dozen games in his career he will surpass Mahoney . If we get another hooker needs to be fast and creative to compliment smith
Yep Gould is a total manipulator and cancer to any club.
Gould is absolutely a manipulator and a flop, but let's not pretend he's a cancer to clubs.
He was, at least in part, the architect to Penriths rise to a dynasty with sustained dominance the likes of which we're unlikely to see again.
He then did a short stint setting up the Warriors for success, and they're up the top of the ladder for the first time in forever.
He's now spent a few years at the Bulldogs and they've moved from cellar dwellers to leading the competition.
I don't like Gus, I don't want him at Parramatta. But his track record is, unfortunately, undeniable. Having him around has made the last 3 clubs that tried it incredibly successful in a short space of time.
He's what you'd call a Brilliant Jerk. Supremely unlikeable, questionable ethics, but gets results.
