Seems like every week there are good quality players coming onto the market or that are available that would add something to our team and roster but we aren't seeming to be as active in the player market as we were earlier this year. EG Keon. Barnett
Has anyone heard anything or have any news on any potential signings for 2027 /2028 we may look at? I still believe there is the basis of a very good football side at the Eels but we defintely need 1 or 2 additions of quality players at the absolute least

So let me get this straight. The committee, which consists of Ryles, MON, Sarantinos and Rogers, some if not all have other employment than other the club?
If they don't have someone in charge of recruitment then what is Rogers "head of recruitment" title then?
I think some grain of salt can be taken on Ol' Cregan.
Despite recruitment not the best at Parra and hasn't been for awhile I thought the Eels team played very well against the Knights who are a top 6 top 4 side with Ponga in their team. The Eels could have and probably should have won that match except for some poor decisions, poor passing and other errors.
The Forwards did reasonably well considering a couple were back from injury and there were still some regular players missing. Ryles is going ok with the players he has available and the inexperience of many. Longi was just back from injury as well and Papali first game at 6 for awhile and Volkman's first time running the show and Williams first time as captain. I think with a full side the Eels would be further up the ladder. There are a few good players coming through lower grades who with experience will add nicely to the NRL side moving forward.
Sorry no chance we played well that 15 minutes in the second half was diabolical.
I can't say we played well after that basically handed the game to he Knights.
Whats worse is the Knights did there best to keep us in the game firing the ball around committing errors when they didn't need to.
Watching Riff and the Warriors play last night and the Raiders to they were streets ahead of what I've seen on show from us.
Played well I didn't see that I just saw a team that gave good effort for no reward. We are well off the pace all over the park.
Agree there were some poor moments like you said especially early 2nd half was terrible. Yet overall considering the mixed team, some returning from injury, some out of position etc.. I thought they did well despite the errors and they could and probably should have won if they iced those opportunities they had. Penrith definitely get some extra help from referees and bunker in my opinion and yes Penrith are a good side BUT they get a lot of calls go their way whereas their opponents don't.

The 26-year-old explained he had previously been close to leaving the Panthers earlier in his career, only for the club to convince him to stay.
"I was about to sign with Parra mid-year, and they were like 'nah, stay, we got something lined up for you to be happy with your brothers'."
What's your point here? As Terrell states, he didn't sign because Penrith were sorting contracts for his brothers. Which ended up not eventuating and then the Penrith CEO torpedoed him returning to the club.
that we can attract talent and it sounds like barring some unknown factors, he would have been playing at parra.
Feels like we have been saying this for 4-5 years that we're short in outsides back
With all the talk of recruitment, Chiefy asserted the board should sack the recruitment and retention staff for failing to meet recruitment criteria. Which raises an interesting question: can anyone answer the following?
1) What is the recruitment criteria?
2) If the answer to Q.1 is unknown, what should be the recruitment criteria?
I don't know what the current criteria of success is, but it doesn't have to be rocket science. For instance:
Creating and maintaining a squad that:
These KPIs should be judged on a 6 year rolling window so you can't just rest on your laurels of the past. It's a performance based business, so base the metrics of success on performance.
Are there extenuating circumstances? Sure. Welcome to life. Overcome them or find another job that's not in a performance based industry.
