The stats show that we were dominated by a physical, in-form pack, and that's no surprise, given the quality of players that the Cowboys have in the forward pack.
It wasn't even that we gave away that many penalties. The inopportune errors and poor ball control cost us ultimately and when you give the Cowboys good field position to score, they're bound to make the most of it.
Geez, the forwards needed to have a better dig than that!
They were just outplayed really.
No excuses.
I don't think it's concerning as such.
Peats is clearly first choice hooker and overall, a more complete player than De Gois, so he obviously sees the long minutes and then gets a breather at the end.
If anything, I think the impact and leadership of Tim Mannah is what we're missing.
Despite the flak he cops on here, he galvanises the forward pack and carries them forward on his back because he sets the tone for their efforts.
So when he returns, which could be this week as a late inclusion or next week, I think we'll see a big difference.
I probably should have said that I don't think BA use's the interchanges smartly enough but I still think that IDG is holding a spot on the bench that could be better utilized
The injury to Mannah through the forward rotation out of wack and it's been a juggling act since then.
But there's really no one forward excelling consistently in the NSW Cup to take De Gois' spot and have the extra forward on the bench.
I really like Mannah and his contribution week in week out sometimes goes unnoticed and he has been missed in the middle but if Tanginoa wasn't injured would you have him on the bench and I base that purely on form and the team we are up against this week.
Kelepi's injury is unfortunate as he did appear to be regaining form and was a chance to play.
But I guess it just depends on how it affects the team.
But the loss of Mannah these past few weeks has been a bigger blow than many realise.
Another great effort Ricky.
It just struck me you do not put up the overall possession rate.
Eg - Cowboys with x % Eeels y%
with 100 hit ups to 77 we can get a decent guess but..................
Penalty rate surprised me - 9/6 - but then again WHERE those penalties were/how they were given is another question.
Gutho continues to make good metres from dummy half
