  • Thanks for the stats Ricky.
Where do you source them from? On the NRL app it's showing totally different figures.
    • They're my own stats.

I collate them for every game, every week, compare it across the board with numerous other outlets and then average it out where applicable and if needed.

I find that the stats from NRL.com are not as reliable as they once were, simply because they included additional extras within their stats that don't need to be included, particularly with total run metres.

Doesn't help when most NRL teams are not fans of the stats provider that the NRL use either, that being Prozone Stats.

  • Also, Clint Gutherson 24 tackles - they really targeted that side
And De Gois 0 run metres - their forwards really dominated the ruck
  • Bevan French 4 tackles missed 3

    • Certainly an area for him to tighten up and fast.

He's brilliant in attack but certainly needs to work on his defence and his defensive positioning overall.

    • Sure, but he also made 2 definite try-saving tackles, so he has a sense of the occasion.
  • Thanks Ricky some really interesting and surprising stats there.
I can't believe our completions were at 83%, it felt like we just kept giving the ball back to the Sharks, it was probably due to our poor last tackle kicks due to no room or momentum being created. The other thing that surprises me is that our hit ups were higher on average than the Sharks, it felt like they were constantly and illegally picking us up and driving us backwards, a new storm like tactic that the Sharks are using well because the refs are not penalising even after they call held.
Degois zero run metres is a concern and if he isn't threatening it is too easy for the defensive teams to pick the runner, maybe our play the balls were too slow but either way this can be addressed.
    Thanks again mate
    • It was a game that actually had very few overall errors, I thought.
Both teams handled the ball relatively well.

The fact that Norman had to take the reins and control the play which didn't help when we couldn't quite get over the advantage line.

I wouldn't say they were holding us up and driving us back immediately. My issue was that they deliberately slowed down the ruck much longer than you're usually allowed to - even longer than the Storm normally would - yet they were hardly penalised for it. That's a concern and it can set a dangerous precedent across the NRL.

And with De Gois, his 0 run metres is more down to the fact that our forwards weren't really winning the battle through the middle.
Because the Sharks slowed down the ruck so much, there was no opportunity or time to really get a quick play the ball and dummy half run.

  • Totally agree Xman I thought there were countless times ref called held and tackles continued but no penalty was forthcoming
On the NRL app this week they go through the right and wrong ref decisions and only one they came up with for our game was that Gallen's double movement should have been a try.........there is definitely a bias against us
  • 33 missed tackles... need to tighten that up.
