  • Eels by 8.

  • papa may have been the one that used to run right through us but our team now under J R is a completely different team now

  • Feeling confident.

  • Big vow of confidence for Guymer.

    Good on the lad.

  • Good faith by JR in the team. Was a very impressive win last week. Versed a top 8 team at full strength that are coming of a bye.

Just look deeply into the team we fielded out.

    • Papalii first ever game at fullback in the NRL. Hawkins or TDS has never played with Moses. So really the only combination in the spine was Smith and Hawkins who still have only played minimal games together. Ones a backup and the other is a rookie as well between those 2.
    • Our backrowers have barely played there this year, espically with the halves they were next too.
    • Penisni & Lomax have barely played together.
    • Only Russel & JAC have played majority of the season together. The fact this is JAC first season at eels and they are probably the pair that have the most experience in the team playing with each other speaks volume.
    • We played without our first chocie fullback, 5/8 (2 spine members) and backrower. Plus many players returning to the team.

Once this team is finally able to get consistency in the team selection, I cannot wait to see the improvement between:

    • the spine (marquee player barely fit this year)
    • forwards (given their ball playing skills to play short with the other forward running hard lines)
    • edge combinations (able to utlitse Fox speed more)
    • halves with their backrowers (one of Moses strength when you think of ICE).

Currently, players like Doorey, Russel & Guymer who are not in our best line up for 2026 are getting valuable game time and will be pushing for a spot next year.

  • well done Lorenzo for making the cup team this week, has been very good In flegg, could possibly be in for a debut next year in first grade, at some stage, this guy is our future 5/8th

  • By the look of the Storm foward pack it's in the middle of the park they are wanting to play.I suggest if we can get enough possession we need to be turning around this foward pack at every opportunity and ball movement is a must.Basically physically we can't go with these guys so we have to move them around and our back 5 have to be huge in yardage.

    • Agree... can't out muscle them, just need to keep them contained (mainly Harry)... then Mitch kick early, kick long, chase well and have their pack running laps up and back the field. Nelson will last 10 mins. Don't have to win the middle, just hold it and smother Harry... then gas them via some 'forcings back'...

"It's come out that BA didn't exactly handle some player departures tactfully. Tim Mannah spoke of being frozen out by Brad at the back end of his career. Ben Smith was in the same boat."
