R U over 55 and OK

  • If you think you are suffering memory loss.......

    Anosognosia
    , very interesting...

In the following analysis the FrenchProfessor Bruno Dubois
, Director of the Institute of Memory and Alzheimer's Disease (IMMA) at La Pitié-Salpêtrière - Paris Hospitals, addresses the subject in a rather reassuring way:

"If anyone is aware of their memory problems, they do not have Alzheimer's."

    1. forget the names of families.
    2. do not remember where I put some things .

It often happens in people 60 years and older that they complain that they lack memory. "The information is always in the brain, it is the "processor" that is lacking."

This is "Anosognosia" or temporary forgetfulness.

Half of people 60 and older have some symptoms that are due to age rather than disease. The most common cases are:

    - forgetting the name of a person,
    - going to a room in the house and not remembering why we were going there,
    - a blank memory for a movie title or actor, an actress,
    - a waste of time searching where we left our glasses or keys ..

After 60 years most people have such a difficulty, which indicates that it is not a disease but rather a characteristic due to the passage of years ..

Many people are concerned about these oversights hence the importance of the following statements:
1."Those who are conscious of being forgetful have no serious problem of memory."
    2. "Those who suffer from a memory illness or Alzheimer's, are not aware of what is happening."

Professor Bruno Dubois, Director of IMMA, reassures the majority of people concerned about their oversights:

"The more we complain about memory loss, the less likely we are to suffer from memory sickness."

Now for a little neurological test:
    Only use your eyes!

1- Find the C in the table below!

    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOCOOOOOOOOOOO
    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
    OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO

2- If you found the C, then find the 6 in the table below.

    99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999
    99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999
    99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999
    69999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999
    99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999
    99999999999999999999999999999999999999999999999

3- Now find the N in the table below. Attention, it's a little more difficult!

    MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMNMM
    MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
    MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
    MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM
    MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMM

If you pass these three tests without problem:
    - you can cancel your annual visit to the neurologist.
    - your brain is in perfect shape!
    - you are far from having any relationship with Alzheimer's

We are truly blessed so share this with your over-55 friends as it can reassure them.

    • Yes Frank I have a big problem with remembering names as well. Have had the problem for ages. I recently called a neighbour by the wrong christian name. Bloody embarrassing. Sometimes when I drive on local country roads and I daydream alot and then get the feeling that I haven't a clue where I am. Scary stuff .The " test" has reassured me somewhat

  • Tad, im not over 55 but have been reading up and visiting you tube sites on the main causes of heart calcification and also memory issues  we get through calcification of the arteries as my old man has a tripple bypass in his early 60s.  He is 84 now.

Calcium supplements were all the rage for strong bones and teeth,  but recently many studies have found that these supplements can contribute to artery calcium deposits.

Now many universal studies have found that vitamin k2 is the answer as it draws Calcium out of the arteries and into the bones. It has a double effect.

K2 is found in leafy vegetables and sauerkraut which is one of the healthiest foods on the planet. Its as sour as fark but you'll learn to like it lol. Its fermentation is the key to its health benefits.

Anyone taking calcium supplements should do research on this.  Also omega 3s have shown a substantial effect on brain function.  Fish meals such as salmon 2 or 3 times a week or krill of fish oils do the trick.  Studies have found that the brain actually grows larger and memory is improved with enough omega 3s. Avocado should be another staple. Use it instead of margarine. Its packed with the good oils.

    • Both she who must be obeyed and I passed Taddles

      • Haha Hector I know the feeling about passing something

    • Thanks for that You are right it is very easy to neglect what some may consider " trivial" ageing issues and find out these things are treatedable of discovered early. I had a hole in the heart ( which is common to a lot of us) closure about 6 or 7 years ago. The hole in my heart size required closing. I also very recently had a scan ( $250 not covered by Medicare) for calcium build up around my heart. My results were good. The Doctor said I  very unlikely to get a stroke or heart attack in the next 10 to 15 years.Very comforting to know that.Anyone with heart issues with family history should talk to their Doctor about this and maybe get the heart calcium scan
