    • Cool, thanks. Honestly didn't know that.

  • Yes and it's great practice for any rule changes and refs picking up on where we are giving away penalties

  • I'm not liking the extra kg's gutho looks to have put on, he is a support type fullback attacking the middle of the field, he needs to be slimmer to play that role and maintain agility and endurance. Maybe he is just a bit under done as he has just started offseason training recentlt.

    • His fitness is already so high he can afford to bulk up as strong as he can be and lose a bit of work rate. He'll still be one of the hardest working fullbacks in the game.

    • According to 60’s report, he was winning all the endurance testing on his first day back even though he had given everyone else a couple of weeks head start.

      I think he’ll be fine.

      • I was always confident he wiould be the fittest in the team by season start, it's the extra kg's i am worried about, there are not too many people that can add bulk and maintain the same levels of agility and speed.

  • The combo with the refs has been going on for some years now with different ones in a type of rotation, on one end of the scale it should help the players in their knowledge of the rules and when one is given on training days with the ref's the reasons for the penalties are given, and that should make the players wise up in regard to their own knowledge of the rules and play by them.

On the other end of the scale though, is the aspect that ref's seem to interprete them differently come game days, also it depends on the individual refs and the teams being refereed, likewise the general importance in the game.

The refs boss and NRL issue decrees and new rules along with interpretations that appear to be for media releases only as they are often a contradiction in regards to their interpretations.  In the end, the refs at training as I said SHOULD help, and generally it probably does, but! there is still the aspect of game day consistency in their penalty awardings that need to be addressed.

      • Grunts and  Fathead.  Agree in total thing is that if one ref is reintroduced, and even if not *I prefer just one* the back up in having the linesmen doing their jobs would make the game better, they are meant to hold the mark for the play the ball, scrums etc to prevent off side plays, if they see an incedent in play they are meant to raise their flag and run on at that point to stop play.

They are the basics outside of their rullings on the touch line and in goal checks, I don think they also are able to rule on forward passes, not just when tries are scored and the ref checks with them.

If those rules still exist they should apply, if they have been removed then they should be reinstated.

  • The main problem with the refs is that during a game they see things differently which is of course quite expected. If you manage to watch a game with the 'Sports Ears' on you will hear one ref interpret a play quite differently to the other. One will say play on the other stop there, no play on etc.. for the life of me I don't know how the players cope with it especially under extreme fatigue in a dynamic game situation.
The sooner we go back to one referee the better the game will be for everyone.

"No chance. From all reports Ryles couldnt agree to the release quick enough.  Think the club is pretty pissed off he had his head turned 8 months into a 4 year deal."
