Haha, Wiz.
Agree, it can get messy. There is a lot of politics, murky stuff and bollocks in our tribal game.
Not just the usual quid-pro-quos, player agent deals, media manipulation, deliberate sabotage, nepotism, old boys' clubs, cap rorting that isn't caught, coke, orgy sharing and typical off-field snenagans. Hidden forces. Big sticks that are emotionally invested and prefer to play God covertly.
We totally lack that edge of the powerbrokers amongst our club, hence why we can't compete fairly with those who do. Is it a coincedence that Souths have struggled since Holmes a Court fucked off ? He's a very well connected businessman. Obviously Packers there now , but how involved is he in the day to day the way PHA'C was ? HA'C was their Uncle Nick.
Once Rusty showed everyone he could get them a win he also faded away. It makes a huge difference when you have that influential person in the media every week campaigning for their team. Remember how often we had to endure Russell Crowe's opinion on the NRL leading up to Souths premiership. Then boom .... gone .
Now it's Gus , fucking daily , and look how favourable things are for them.

If only we had a friendly Eels' billionaire tree. The club would welcome them with open arms and a red carpet. It certainly would change things as you suggest. But the Panthers are showing how dynasties, the greatest this century, can be built without billionaire sugar daddies. Of course, you could claim Packer had a hand around 15 years ago or so when he gave Gus a loan to help the Panthers out of a tight squeeze. But, you get the drift. Loans and big stick billionaire fans emotionally invested in a club are not the same.
Fitzy's fall left a vaccuum that took more than a decade to start to repair. We get the likes of Spags. And the Dark Ages of internal bickering. But don't forget even with Fitzy, as good as he was, we didn't win anything for 30 years. But sure he had power, was cluey enough to bring in someone like Brian Smith and the hard-cap was a little more stretchy back then. Also, we got the Big Four during the SL wars. Helped.
Gus is a force of nature. I don't think many administrators could match him and his 50-year network. Sure, he bends every rule he can and maniulates the media. Well, you only need to look at who the Dogs employ to see which player manager he does his quid-pro-quo deals with. His only downside is he meddles too much with culture and rosters. He drove the Dogs' rebuild from mid-2021. Will the Dogs need to let him go to win a title? Dunno, yet. Adam Druissi , billionaire in theory, is a smart cookie, but it was Koudry who did the hard work as chairman before him — without the credit— to get Gus on board and keep the Laundy Group on the bus.
It makes perfect sense. Lussick is leaving at the end of the year and we are trying to get rid of Hands. Havilii would be our 3rd choice hooker that can play as a middle too. Play in NSW cup. That 1 year will be really valuable so Coinakis can spend 2026 in JF and make the fulltime transition to nsw cup in 2027.
It does make sense actually your right EA you got your worker in Smith you got your finesse and skill in TDS what's missing a physical guy who can play in the middle at a pinch basically you've covered your bases at Hooker if Havilli is signed and no doubt it won't be for anything substantial and it will be no more than a 2 yr deal and again buys your pathways time at the position as at some point no doubt they think TDS is the future and Smith will need to be upgraded or will move on,
It makes sense if the price is right but had we not signed Da Silva and say we wanted a year for Coinakis to develop, Havili is a nice 14 option to help with Smith.
"When Ryles was first annouced, I wasn;t happy. Rookie coach meh... As soon as I watched the first interview he did on ParraTV, I was convinced we had the right bloke in charge. Culture and Community impressed me straight up. He has moved…"
"@super, out of topic, an Eels player from SG ball named Phoenix Tauasa had been reported in DT being charged with robbery. Does he have the potential to play FG in the future? If so, that will be very bad for himself and the team"

What a game.

I feel St. Helens he would get a better deal.
Yea I dont think Havilii will sign to be 3rd choice hooker for us. St Helens seems the better option for him.

That aged well Wiz!
We've signed JDB and are reportedly chasing a 32 year old Hooker , I'd say it's aging far better than your wrinkly old balls .,
