Possible Member Exclusive Ideas

Now I know many on this site hate soccer with a passion but you have to admit that off the field, English football is very well organised. Being a Liverpool fan I have a good idea of the perks that members get. One of them is a thing called LFC TV. What this does is allow the members to watch Reserves matches and U18 matches online, live. They also get access to exclusive online content as well as proper members gear, available for purchase. I'm talking jackets, training gear and accessories.

Now, wouldn't it be good if we, as members, got to watch the U20's and Wenty online? As well as getting to watch interviews with players that we supply the questions for? It's another marketing avenue for the club to look at and one that can significantly boost membership.

Now, the most expensive membership is $61 Australian. Due to the popularity of the club you have to buy tickets to the games separately, however these tickets are relatively cheap. By buying the most expensive membership you get priority access to all home ticket sales, no internet fees when purchasing online, access to the Auto Cup Ticket Scheme, giving you priority access to games such as the FA Cup, Membership pack, 10% discount at official LFC store. Now that looks relatively similar to the Eels non-ticketed membership (Which is $75). But here's the kicker; 30% off stadium tours, 10% off your bill at the Boot Room Sports Cafe (A big cafe located next to the stadium, Free champagne on your birthday at the Boot Room (Over 18's only) when 4 or more dine and you eat free on your birthday if 4 or more dine. To see all the memberships available you can go here: http://www.liverpoolfc.com/membership/benefits/benefits

Even if Parramatta didn't bring in everything seen above we'd be well on the way to being one of the most member friendly clubs. For instance, bringing in a stadium tour at a decent price wouldn't go astray ($25 to tour Anfield and the club museum), a tour by a Liverpool legennd will cost you $54. Imagine getting a tour of Parramatta by Peter Sterling or Brett Kenny for $50. These tours are available for any supporter but if you're a member you get a discount. The club is neglecting a very easily organised revenue stream which would be embraced by supporters.

  • Great idea, I am a Liverpool supporter also and attended a game at anfield and did the stadium tour as well! No better feeling than walking down that tunnel , touching the This is Anfield sign and walking out to the pitch! Being able to do this at our home ground would be awesome
    • I'm not sure if it's a common occurrence, but at fan day we walked down the tunnel and along the sideline on the grass.

This might've been 2011...  I'm getting old and forgetful.

  • What another surprise, super writing a blog comparing league with soccer, just about every blog you now write you talk about the great game of soccer, you are taking the piss arnt you super, imagine if you where a RL journo and you did this in every story you wrote, you would be the laughing stock and you would be told by the editor to pull your head outa your ass, your credability is fast going down the drain as an editor on here, i like you super but this is getting beyond a joke now.

    • There is some comparison to football on here but only in a way Parra could be gaining revenue. The club should be looking at the most successful clubs from around the world regardless of what code they play and should be implementing the ways that they became so successful in terms of memberships.

    • So Snake, you'd rather that Parramatta ignore a revenue stream that is can be so easily organised? It's just some basic stuff. LFC is a huge club and has members from all over the world. We're trying to get 20K members, LFC has 42 million members worldwide. Clearly they are doing something right and it would be stupid of the club to ignore things that massive clubs, overseas, are doing. I'm not saying we should turn into LFC, I'm simply saying that if we implemented some similar programs that LFC have it would be beneficial to Parramatta. If I had simply put the ideas down in the blog without mentioning soccer would you have had a go at me?

  • A few times they've let people onto Parra field, I remember one time in early 2000's Brian Smith was showing off the head-wear they had to talk to people down on the ground and he handed it to one of the "special" guys in the group and asked him to say something and he said "When are we getting a new coach?"

    • I'm not talking about just walking onto the ground, I'm talking a full tour of the facilities; dressing rooms, corporate boxes, gym etc.

  • I've been a member for 7 seasons and in that time we've had 1 tour of the stadium. I walked on the ground last season when I got my Member's jersey but you only got to do that if you bought a member's jersey. It'd be great if they ran regular stadium tours for a reasonable price membership will steadily go up and the club will have a new revenue stream.

    • The tour at Parramatta Stadium wouldn't be all that exciting, there's nothing there really. If they upgraded the stadium there should be a memorabilia walk from the home dressing sheds to the ground with all the great players and some quotes from ex-players to inspire the team along.

      • Ham, you interested in becoming the architect for the UPSAG? Those are terrific ideas. I'll post here when I take an Anfield tour about what they've got in their tour. Included in their tour is a tour of the official LFC Museum. Maybe the club could put together a Museum inside the Leagues Club. An honour board with every first grade player's name on it, a progression of the different jerseys etc. Just something that can be added without a lot of work. They've got all the players on record already and they'd surely have the old jerseys stored somewhere.

Like you said, maybe some more work on the tunnel that has quotes from former players and coaches or a progression of the teams as they walk down the tunnel. Maybe it starts with a player from 1947 and as you get towards the entrance it gets closer and closer to the current day. You could have maybe a crunching hit from the Bear, Cronin and Price lifting the trophy, Sterling executing a pass, Kenny going through a gap, GrotheSnr running over someone, Cayless making a hit-up, Burt crossing the try-line, Hindy making a list ditch tackle. It would pump the players up and probably intimidate the opposition. We've got the startings of it with the Jack Gibson banner above the tunnel.
