Parramatta is not popular because they have been badly promoted. After the 2014 renaissance, we were quiet popular because they saw us having a go after the severity of our shakeup!

Subsequent failures changed this and the tribalism that was Newcastle in comparison with its isolation makes a difference, Parramatta is so big in a City sense, but the tribalism tends to be suburban rather than the single city of Newcastle or maybe I could rephrase that to a perception rather than a fact. I worry that kids are not going to be inspired the same way a generation was in the 80's.

It will be interesting to see where Newcastle end up next year, we saw the demise of Canberra 12 months after their Minor premiership, Parra after the 2022 demise, even Penrith struggled after the 2024 title (running last at one point), don't forget  this year will be interesting to see how the Dolphins will be cut up and also the premiers will lose Marky Mark and Cherry, those two probably were the difference of Roosters making the grand final, take away that kick catch game and they haven't got a great deal of attack....this was showed up by the Newcastle defencisive pattern.

Let's not forget the Bronco's this year gone!

We can also can go back to our "wooden spoon" in 2018, we made the semi's the previous year and again in 2019.

Newcastle were wooden spooners in 2025,  there team was better coached but not remarkably better  but arguably (player) wiser, do some on here want to go back to last years wooden spooners and see what they said about them, not the least of Dyllan Brown going there, through no fault of what was called at the time the stupidity of the guy we now want to hire as our recruitment boss.....a decision I have no problem with btw......but just pointing out the cynicism of this site and its occupants.

The cures are actually as controllable as we can get in an evolutionary sense.

What is our evolution, its quiet pronounced since the renaissance but just the same one we have to bear and falter with.

BA's appoinment

The club changing administratively

The oppointment  of Gurr and then Saratinos and the subsequent Centre of Excellance

Subsequent change of Chairmen

BA's sacking and the appointments both in effort and in fact of the current incumbents.

The Lomax affair and the Moses injuries

The Ryles era and the injuries resulting in the demise of 2026.

Yes this / these are all factors in our evolution

Hope you all come for the ride!......I have been on it for a loooong time!

      • Hard to disagree with that Super

    • I don't deny your rationale re Brown, but your views of him do not change the thrust of my story. Not all my post's are artificial, that blog would have been better written if it was.

i wonder if Parra could get him back and how much they would pay for him, lets assume Parra got him back for 900, would Newy pay the 400 out of pocket for 9 years.....

      • I was refering to yours quote re site cynicism.  You can't really measure on what POS did pre and post coaching appointment.  Would he have done the same if he knew who they were going to hire ? Maybe , maybe not.  But it's not a fair assessment without acknowledging circumstances changed.

        • I aknowledge circumstances changed....and will keep on changing!

      • You watch Pops write it down DBs the 7 at Newey going foward without a doubt he is.Holbrook understands what he's got and his ability to play there or why do they buy him in the first place because best believe Holbrook would have had to have been part of this decision.

The fact he's got him playing on the right side and he's in at first reciever most of the time he's slowly going to turn DB in to the 7 he showed the ability to play when he was a junior here.Another reason he changed sides because for the most part left side attack is the dominant side teams attack with so why not put your best halves defender there it makes perfect sense too me.

DB made Journey man Shaun Lane into one of the better hole running backrowers over a 2 yr period here shaun farken lane.

        • "because best believe Holbrook would have had to have been part of this decision"

So you think Holbrook was consulted on Browns signing at Newcastle ? Lol.  You might want to have a run over some timeframes first.   Start with when Brown and Newy started talking , and then maybe shoot over and have a Squizzy when Justin and Newy did the same.  Granted Holbrook would've most certainly been in discussions before the world knew about it .  But 7 months prior ? lol.

          Jesus you talk rubbish .

Brown will most likley get his start at some stage through injury or Holbrook shuffling troops out of necessity to fit money bags in somehow . and as we've seen with other bums , he will most likely improve under Holbrook.   My point is , if they had the chance to revisit signing the guy on money well above his worth, I and many others would make a safe wager they'd leave him and his contract  as Parramatta's Achilles heel.  To be honest , on form , there's no way on this earth he pushes his way back into the squad.  This season as an all round cog in the team , Sandon Smith was twice the player Brown has been for a few years now.

          • Sandon Smith will be a case in point he's done well at the Roosters and the Knights but if you put him in this Parra side do you think he excels I certainly don't.As for him leaving us well best career move for him.

With regards to JR not wanting to give him more or us not wanting to give him more how exactly has the club gone since he's left.

Hows our star halfback been playing since Brown was let go last time I looked when they were both at the peak of there powers we were actually contenders now where are we.Whose the next 6 after Luai bails 3 years half a dozen players later I mean the coach didn't want him that's fine but this merry go round at the position is turning into a pisstake.

Yes we have these millions we've saved letting Brown go how have we improved the team since he's signed with Newey.Eumour is the guy that signed him our hierarchy are or were looking at him.Wouldn't that be ironic.

        • Of course Dylan is the halfback at the knights Coryn, they handed him the biggest deal in NRL history. Your hands are tied once you've agreed to those kind of terms (for better or worse). So your claim about him being halfback from here on doesn't carry any weight at all, and it certainly isn't related to anything he does on the field.

        • Sorry Coryn, Brown was signed in March 2025 by Newcastle, O'Brien was sacked in August 2025. If Newcastle already knew about Holbrook coming there enough to give him a say on recruitment back then, why not just hire him then and sack O'Brien?

Holbrook had nothing to do with Brown's signing.

          • You'd have to ask the Newey hierarchy that and as for timelines without the inside information I can't answer your question.
