Parramatta is not popular because they have been badly promoted. After the 2014 renaissance, we were quiet popular because they saw us having a go after the severity of our shakeup!
Subsequent failures changed this and the tribalism that was Newcastle in comparison with its isolation makes a difference, Parramatta is so big in a City sense, but the tribalism tends to be suburban rather than the single city of Newcastle or maybe I could rephrase that to a perception rather than a fact. I worry that kids are not going to be inspired the same way a generation was in the 80's.
It will be interesting to see where Newcastle end up next year, we saw the demise of Canberra 12 months after their Minor premiership, Parra after the 2022 demise, even Penrith struggled after the 2024 title (running last at one point), don't forget this year will be interesting to see how the Dolphins will be cut up and also the premiers will lose Marky Mark and Cherry, those two probably were the difference of Roosters making the grand final, take away that kick catch game and they haven't got a great deal of attack....this was showed up by the Newcastle defencisive pattern.
Let's not forget the Bronco's this year gone!
We can also can go back to our "wooden spoon" in 2018, we made the semi's the previous year and again in 2019.
Newcastle were wooden spooners in 2025, there team was better coached but not remarkably better but arguably (player) wiser, do some on here want to go back to last years wooden spooners and see what they said about them, not the least of Dyllan Brown going there, through no fault of what was called at the time the stupidity of the guy we now want to hire as our recruitment boss.....a decision I have no problem with btw......but just pointing out the cynicism of this site and its occupants.
The cures are actually as controllable as we can get in an evolutionary sense.
What is our evolution, its quiet pronounced since the renaissance but just the same one we have to bear and falter with.
BA's appoinment
The club changing administratively
The oppointment of Gurr and then Saratinos and the subsequent Centre of Excellance
Subsequent change of Chairmen
BA's sacking and the appointments both in effort and in fact of the current incumbents.
The Lomax affair and the Moses injuries
The Ryles era and the injuries resulting in the demise of 2026.
Yes this / these are all factors in our evolution
Hope you all come for the ride!......I have been on it for a loooong time!
Feel free to express your comfort in getting off the horse or staying seated as you ride with the "bumps".

lol or ... you're just wrong .
On another note, all those crying about Luais 1 year deal, thoughts on DCE and his 1 year deal ?
Cost us 275k and nothing changed other than finding Volk.
What it did do is teaching Ryles a lesson and that's not a criticism.
Yes, if Luai is/was capable of doing a Cherry or a Cronk for that matter.
Jesus you talk rubbish
When in Rome hypocrite who gives a rats.
I think we are in a really good place. We have vacancies in our roster. We have a significant amount of cap space to spend. We have a new incoming CEO with new ideas and new contacts (super league). We are extending our head coach early. I think we are moving in the right direction. I don't need to see huge leaps forward (ala the knights this season). Just continuous improvement will suffice, better in the long term.
The biggest advantage I see having Luai is he can go back being the player he is Robin not Batman he's got a guy one of the best in the game to run the team round the field the key for JR is getting Luai integrated as quickly as possible so he hits the ground running combination wise with his edges and whoever is on the left wing because it's not JaC.
Winning resovles everything.
Gurr mentioned significant reputational damage have we fixed that perception of the club it would seem so.We've become profitable again off the park.Sarantinos and co do deserve cudos for that they've righted the ship got us in one of the better nrl football stadiums in Aus and have the biggest and one of the better CoE in the nrl also.
Membership has spiked and when we were winning we had some of the biggest memebership numbers in the nrl also.So in that respect Jim and co have done a great job.
Now we all understand the elephant in the room and where we are deficient so I'm not going to tread over well walked ground again. The positive in what I'm hearing and seeing now we are being connected to more well credentialed football people which is a good thing for a footy department that's been the missing link for years.Onwards and upwards I say keep going after winners off the park and arm our club with the necessary people to improve our biggest weakness.
yes Coryn, you are right in those asumptions.
My defence of Saratinos has always been that he realised a change was necessary, hence my aknowledging that he was not dismissed for incomptence like our expert on all matters corporate administration with Parramatta.
The only incompetence possible would have been his retention of MON and Rogers and the fact is he could have sacked them if he wanted to cover his arse at ant time. His integrity has shown up in that both are still there and the new CEO will need to make a decision, something I could not imagine he would act on, or want to act on in his starting period.
If we manage to get O'sullivan then a conversation would probably take place between him and the Chairman if it was felt it needs to be dealt with before the final appointment of the CEO is announced......let's asume (not my recommendation) that MON stays and Rogers is replaced by O'Sullivan......I cannot see how that would work over what we want to achieve when it comes to a future vision.
Intersting cost objective here, I can only guess that MON is on a 500k pa package, if that is the case and that is a going rate? then sacking MON and replacing him with the same title would be a neutral financial deal and circumstancially allow an extra million (200pa) to O'Sullivan. A simple decision in my mind and like I wrote somewhere else allows a lot of hiring of appropriate talent identifiers to be added to his staff.
