I do see benefits to it, he's ours for a season and can keep money for 2027 to find a better fit. Metcalf wishart and others hitting the market. Don't have to commit long term money to him and can help us for 2026.
1. We're developing Pezet for the Broncos. If he stayed at Melbourne for a year, he would still be playing reserves and doesn't get his NRL experience
2. We push back development for Joash for another year, if he is going to be our long term no.6
3. Don't know what we will be paying him for 2026 but we will be using the money that could be used for upgrading one of our better players like Dylan Walker, Fox or even Iongi
4. Even if Pezet is there to cover for Moses in origin period or injury, what message does this send to Joash and Hawkins? If I was either of them, I'd be questioning my future at this club

It's weird as hell but he wants to be the lead man at Brisbane in 2027. With Walsh and Mam I get it. He can help us in 2026 but

Hes far from a finished product. We are prioritising developing Brisbanes future 7 at the expense of our own halves. Surley this is a G up

Let's try do damage in 2026, contracts aren't worth anything anymore. Need to give Moses best chance of competing

I admire you trying to focus on the positives but man this is such a poor move from the club. Especially when we were saying we only want players to want to be here, but lets bring in a kid who is using us as a stepping stone at the expense of Joash who has bled blue and gold since signing.
"I really don't thinks it's an issue EA, good coaches building healthy systems and cultivating team first culture won't see kids leave too quickly. I have a feeling Volkman and Hawkins will both be free to move on now.
"So sad to see the mighty Eels becoming a feeder club to the top end of town teams this should never ever be considered we need players who actually want to be an Eel and make a premiership happen I hope the club reads all of the negative feelings…"

Stupid move. If we are in a rebuild, why not just starting with the long term 6 even if he isnt at Pezet's level yet

I would probably prefer Joash to start but maybe he can work on his 6 skills in cup and let Joash get first shot
you don't rebuild with ! yr contracts for freshies....save that for yhe likes of JDB
