Parramatta in talks with Craig Wing

With the premiership winning ex Rooster/Rabbitoh set to finish his stint in the Japanese Rugby Union, Craig Wing is looking to make a return to the NRL. The 180cm hooker/half is said to be keen to return to Sydney. At 35 years old, this would probably be Craig Wing's last professional contract.

The Eels administration is currently in talks with Wing, as both of his former clubs are heavily stacked in his ideal positions. Wing has been discussed as a potential 5/8 for Parramatta in 2015.

I haven't been watching Wing in Japan, does anyone know how he is conditionally? Apparently he's still as quick and strong as ever.

This could be the signing that Rothfield has been alluding to.

  • He could go alright on a cheap deal.

  • No.
  • Are they kidding ????? No way...
  • This is the most insane thing I have heard yet.

Is it only that dipstick Rothfield saying this or is it someone with at least a shred of credibility?

  • If we are getting rid of Kelly and he's costing us no more, then OK.

    Otherwise No.

    • I'd say he would be a little more expensive than Kelly, having played 17 games for Australia and 12 for NSW. Personally I wouldn't mind this signing, he's big and strong enough to defend in the line, while also being a guy who could offer some mentoring to our young spine.

  • There is no way Craig Wing is still playing to an NRL level. May as well give Bert Kenny a run. Ridiculous
  • Geez I thought I occasionally got high on Red Label but this smacks of someone sniffing high octane. Scatters the vacuum between the ears.

  • I saw him play last year when he represented the Japan national team.  I think he has around half a dozen caps.  He played at a high level against nations like Wales and the All Blacks.  I saw him play twice and he went quite well.  They got dished up against the AB's but he never stopped defending.  He was playing 12 - inside centre.

So long as he doesn't want Japanese rugby money I reckon he might be a good buy as he is better than Norman, Kelly et al

  • WOW not sure what to make of this if it comes true, I reckon on a 1yr deal it could be a good signing. If he did sign it would keep a bit of pressure on Corey Norman to perform.
