Official: Parramatta Eels upgrade Teancum Brown

The Parramatta Eels are pleased to announce that rising talent Teancum Brown has been upgraded to a development contract for the 2026 season, and an NRL contract extension for the 2027 and 2028 seasons.

Brown joined the Eels in 2024 in the Club’s Jersey Flegg squad and has since demonstrated steady improvement, and a commitment to developing his all-round game.

General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill praised Brown’s recent form and commitment to improvement.

“Teancum thoroughly deserves this opportunity. He has worked incredibly hard during the pre-season which impressed his teammates and coaches.” O’Neill said. “Teancum has a good engine for a big man, loves to compete and he displayed a level of confidence in the trial matches which he can take into the season ahead."

The development contract in 2026 will allow Brown to continue training full-time within the NRL system, gaining valuable experience alongside the Club’s senior squad. His upgraded deal through 2028 reflects the Eels’ long-term belief in his potential and the role he can play at NRL level in the coming seasons.

      • He came from Western Suburbs before Parramatta. Played for Maggies in Matts and Ball.

  • He is great example of the next generation of forwards.  There have always been different fowards, some had size and power, some had skills and offloads and others relied on footwork and athletic ability.  Now with sports science and junior development introducing top quality training at younger and younger ages they can possess all of these skills at once.  Size and power no longer comes at the expense of speed or endurance as Payne Haas has shown and the younger players coming through like Brown look set for great careers.

That is why I wasn't disappointed when Koloamatangi went for a 5year deal worth over a million a year and hope we don't get in a bidding war for Barnett.  Having quality props who can play big minutes allow more flexibility with interchange especially with 6 man bench when a great defender or attacking player can be used if needed.

He is still young so needs game time and he will make some mistakes on the way, but can't wait to see him and Tuivati ripping it up and leading our pack in a couple years time.

  • What's his background?

"This is possibly the weakest attempt I've ever seen from an ex trying to incriminate an NRL player. It's laughable and should be treated as such by the Integrity Units.
Did the ex sell the photos to the media or just releae them on social media out…"
