Dear Members,
The Parramatta Eels have today confirmed the assistant coaches for the 2025 season and beyond.
Incoming head coach Jason Ryles will be supported by Assistant Coaches Nathan Brown, Scott Wisemantel, Sam Moa and Nathan Cayless.
Nathan Brown previously served as the Parramatta Eels Elite Pathways Coaching Director in 2022 and was instrumental in accelerating the development of our players in those programs. His coaching experience of 475 games in the NRL and English Super League will be of great benefit to Jason and the other coaches as well as the playing group.
Scott Wisemantel is a Parramatta Eels junior, and played in the Parramatta Eels President’s Cup and reserve grade teams from 1988 to 1992. A former Wallabies and England attack coach, Scott has coached around the world including in France, Japan, Samoa and England and he was a long-time assistant to Eddie Jones with Japan at the 2015 World Cup and with England between 2018-19.
Sam Moa was the defence coach for Catalan Dragons from 2021 - 2023. He is a former New Zealand and Tonga international and a premiership winner with the Roosters in 2013. Sam also played 169 Super League games winning the Challenge Cup at Wembley in 2018.
Nathan Cayless, a former Captain and legend of the club continues in his NSW Cup Head Coach role to round out the new coaching structure for 2025.
Another key appointment is that of Blair Mills as the Head of Athletic Performance. Blair has had experience working with the All Blacks Rugby 7s, Waikato Chiefs and in his most recent role with Japanese rugby. He comes highly recommended and will complement the coaching staff with his approach to training and recovery.
Parramatta Eels CEO Jim Sarantinos said, “Our incoming Head Coach Jason Ryles has assembled a team of assistants that he feels will help him bring the best out of the playing group and we look forward to welcoming the new coaching staff in November. On behalf of the Board and management, I’d also like to thank the current coaching and performance staff who are departing our Club at the end of this season. It has been a challenging season but our staff have shown their strong commitment to the Club and the team during this period. We are most grateful for their contribution and look forward to recognising them prior to the season completion.”

Fuck me dead. What a bunch of nuffies. Cayless is the icing on the cake for me , until him I was half optimistic. Here we are being told that Ryles comes from these great systems and knows what it takes to create a winning culture and then he goes and appoints two guys that have loser DNA running through their veins in Cayless and Brown.
The whinging never ends with you.
So he can't call out a rubbish appointment?
He can do whatever he likes. The complaining is perennial, about literally everything.
Are we sure there rubbish appointments. Cables maybe.
Though to be fair Wiz, what name would have impressed you? An impressive name would be in a top job most of the time or at a top club waiting for the right job.
Best to have people who you may not know who have had moderate success , than people you know who have a history of failure .
Well Brown is the only one of the three anyone really knows. I remember when Wisemantel and Moa were both rumoured to be hired it was met with same reaction.
Nathan Cayless 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I'd honestly have rather he kept Barrett.
