Did you pick that up from the Corey Norman video that was posted, Braeden. If anyone hasn't seen it, take a look at Norman's response where he's asked what it was like coming from Brisbane to the Eels (it's about a quarter way in I think). It's quite alarming and it shows how important the Old Salesyard project is. As nice as it is going to be having the larger Stadium can't help but think from a team performance we would be better served by having a State-of-the-art training facility. Let's hope the relevant councils/governments find some coin for that critical project too.
Poor facilities could go some way into explaining our issues with injuries. You cant have players at their very best when training with limited equipment. You simply cannot train to the same levels as those who have the best.
Good point Jamie.
We have been so behind the 8 ball in facilities that its used by other clubs when trying to keep their players if we have offered them a contract, they would have been telling Foz over at manly how garbage our training facilities are when trying to get him to stay.
For yours we have been the running joke because we didnt even own a full size training field, let alone proper facilities, thank god we now have training fields.
Does anybody know if the stadium is going to have a gym built into?
There's also plans to build a state of the art gym at the site. Not sure when that begins, but I'm pretty sure it's been approved.
Rugby League is a power game. You need your athletes to be training with versatile cutting edge equipment overseen strength and condition experts. I'll bet that the Roosters and Melbourne are years ahead of us in this respect. You can argue that all you need is basic dumbbells and barbells etc. However I believe that to avoid injury or train around injuries you need a varied ability to train muscles in different ways, The best way to achieve this outcome is with a variety of equipment. How can a modern team competing in this competition expect to do well when we are years behind as far as training technology goes. This is a lesson that should have been realised on the trip to the US last year.
