It's pretty hard to get excited about these rumours when we still don't have a CEO and the GM of Football and Head of Recruitment roles must be looked at as lame ducks at the moment.
Then again maybe agents are seeing this as a great time to pounce because there are some folks like MON and Roger's who would be desperate for some "good news" stories and will probably be pretty keen to "make it happen" even if it's short term planning.
Best is great, I don't think I get as excited as others about him. He's definitely a massive upgrade on who we have but...I don't know, I just don't see that much X factor or game-breaker in him. He's just a very, very good centre. He would be a fantastic signing, but he shouldn't be the headline act.
Captain, If I'm Best I am not coming to Parramatta for less than Dylan Brown dumb type money. Why would you when Newcastle are on the verge of some very exciting years. Unless he has aspiration's to play for his Father-inlaws old club to impress his Brats Doll , you'd be batshit cray cray. At 26/26 he's at least one contract away from such a silly move. Our only hope is if they win a comp this year and we offer a stupid amount of money and a stupid long contract. Even then I'm not leaving a future top 4 club at his age for a bottom 4 club with no foreseeable future of changing that.
I don't think best wants to leave Newcastle but he's odd man out. All their youngsters need big upgrades and their star 7 is making 1.5 mill a season lol. Nothing left for Brandman
I wouldn't say not so much there. Newcastle would try and give him what they can and if he wanted to stay he makes it work. But money seems good and reports are he wants to come to Sydney.
If they could offer him similar money he'd stay but he's not taking less to stay I think. Probably just needs a change of scenery to. Won't hurt him lol
Sound logic Wiz, and even if Newy don't have the coin to keep Best we aren't going to be the only ones trying to sign him so I agree it'll be an overs on dollars, overs on contract length and (god forbid) possibly some options in his contract that favour the player.
Apparently his fiancée and her family are all Eels fans. But also wants to move to Sydney. But with new roads as they are, driving to Sydney from Newcastle is not as bad as it used to be.
