Our big signing Jayden Sua badly injured

Now let me tell people something, although I've been a big fan of Sua, Parramatta can't keep going down the road of signing 29 or 30 yeae olds.

People are going to say that injuries happen to anyone,  but thats incorrect,  as players get past 27 or 28 on average they become more injury prone

Now, look at the Panthers,  they hardly if ever sign players over the age of 27 hence their low injuries.  When their current players get to around 28 they let them look around for other opportunities and concentrate on keeping younger players for example,  Liam Martin at 28 is becoming heavily injury prone hence they are allowing him to go to November 1. Thats how its done. You don’t let players like Sam Tuivaiti get to nov 1 bs

Now the reason im saying this is because im hearing we're on the verge of signing another player very experienced but over the age of 30. Not sure who but Penrith would never do this.

Sua faces up to 6 months on the sidelines depending on the severity of the calf tear

  • His good for next year so eh

    • You don't understand the blog

      • Shit honestly I didn't see the bottom lol

  • Do you know who this other very experienced player is rumoured to be?

    • All i know is that he's 29 - 30 +

You'd have to say a middle

Knowing parra, we'll probably forgo Sam Tuivaiti for Jacob Safiti

      • Fisher-Harris is 32 Chiefy, I would take him a heart beat.....injuries are now a fait of life as a RL Player.....unfortunately we (parra) are not in a position to pick and choose, when it comes to age related situations. I believe Ryles culled pretty well at the start of his tenure.

Tha lot of the so called misses we have had with signing's have worked very well for us, Sua is early days and calf muscles are really troublesome (the calf being an extension of the achillies). I hope he stays out and doesn't come back early and again we may have been fortuitous in not picking him up with a early Dragons release.

Its the players we have injured of our own that are causing  our current problems, single injuries can wipe a team out i.e. if Latrell got injured I would write off Souths, Ponga write off Knights, Brisbane write off Walsh and Haas, Penrith would be interesting if they lost Cleary and Yeo, Storm Grant, Hughes starts to bring in sides like Dolphins and Warriors that have genuine depth ......there sits your season and in an injury free( better) season we may have been the one to emerge.....the obvious thing is Moses becomes the same crucible for Parra......otherwise in a different space we may have emerged as injured players would may have been the failed backup for Moses, who actually failed because of the situation that followed. Even you cannot blame MON for that.....word has it that Ryles is quiet content with MON's role, just not content what he has had to put up with the failures of some and the injuries.

Mons ongoing retention is based on what Ryles wants to do......he obviously hasn't got someone we are aware of as a replacement! Sacking him (mons) will achieve nothing if you haven't got a replacement, in the meantime what does Ryles think of Ben Rogers as the R&R man, you seem to know what we need? and by same you obviously think Ryles doesn't..... I am happy to replace Mons and Rogers, but I can only assume there is no one in the wings to take over, otherwise it would have happened......Ryles rules!!

      • Matt Burton

      • bahahahahahaha yer, likely! surely there is an offer on the table for young Sam to stay around long term! i would hate to lose peeps like him and get older 'experienced' guys. i get we need a mix, but seriously, sam is our future and surely the club know this.

  • I’m confused because before you were saying you can’t compare Parra to Penrith, but now your whole argument is based around “Penrith would never do this”.

Also the Tuivaiti November 1 thing has nothing to do with whether experienced players should be signed. One is retaining juniors, the other is balancing experience in a rebuilding roster.

You also defended keeping/signing Dylan Walker when rumours came up, despite him being over 30, so the argument seems inconsistent depending on the player.

The post says a month or more. How do you know it is 6 months? Christ you are acting as if he tore his ACL.

Finally, if there is a rumour of a proposed middle signing, why are you not saying who unless you are sworn to secrecy? If anything give us hints as to location of the club they are at now?

I agree and said for sometime we need to get younger, as to why i was fine with Walker going but be consistent.

    • Are you ok? Seriously im not saying that at all. What im saying is that Parramatta can follow the plan Penrith have had in place.  Parramatta aren't in the same vicinity when it comes to recruitment & retention

Yes im fine with offering Walker a year by year only

The source only said its an experienced player over 29 or 30.

"Walker was an external signing at 31. But yeah i agree, same when we got de Belin. We need to get younger. Hopefully by 2028 our pack is:

9. Da Silva
10. Brown

12. Su'A
13. Koina/Hopgood
