So you think Madge would have gotten a lot out of 5 30 year old forwards with the likes of RCG, Matterson, Cartwright, Lane and Ofahengaue?
All bar probably Ofahengaue had checked out by start of 2025. As apparent that only one has an NRL contract for 2026 and that is Matto who nobody wants.
Would Madge had done what Ryles did this year by going younger and moving on the older roster? Doubt it. He was not looking to rebuild he had NSW job and was fine doing that. Saw Broncos job and thought yeah that is the go. Then watch in 2028 when the Broncos are more likely off him and he moves on again.
But also BEM saying my response is either fact or opinion, same with yours about us going for Madge.
We'd be wooden spooners if he had come.
His last succesful jobs was him coming to a team ready to win and taking them there. Kiwis, Blues, This Broncos side.
We need a complete re-start. He's not the coach for that or do I want someone with his style to rebuild us. We need someone more modern and with a longer term vision than Maguire would've offered. And Ryles has so far more than fit the bill.
As someone above said, if we had 8 origin players then no doubt, get Maguire.
I wouldn't go that far. I doubt finals though. We needed a massive rebuild due to us as a club holding onto the past for too long thinking the window is still open. Ryles took it on and dove head first.
It is a bit unfair saying NSW and Kiwi's ready to win as really both rep teams have only one major competitor, QLD and Aus. Plus they are rep teams, you pick the best of the best. Plus rep footy is entirely different in coaching than NRL coaching. So do not use that in examples as it is a lot different in preparation.
Brisbane had the team to get it done quick, he saw that. Souths he did well with a lot of kids at the club he brought through. Had them mature very quickly.
But we have 8 Origin players, you can get any good coach. Nobody mentions Bennett having a squad ready to go with Souths in 2021 and Dragons in 2010 that Nathan Brown built.
Just cause you have a great squad doesn't mean you win titles automatically. Still need a great coach.
I think he;s a great coach btw macguire. Just not for us.

Love the positivity. Never know for sure but he seems the good so far.
cmon BEM we dont have that squad ...have you forgotten tiger town....he did what he did for the kiwis blues and now Broncos three elite teams ....and got there...the best part about it is all the old boy broncos can now shut the fuck up and stop pushing Kevin walters barrow in the end Madge is a better coach ....pressure is on Walters for the ashes now ....lets here Talis now .....
Go follow the Broncos if you like Madge that much. Ryles will get more out of Parra than Madge would ever get.
