Parramatta star Dylan Brown will enter pleas of guilty to two counts of sexual touching without consent at a popular Sydney hotel.

An NRL star will admit to sexually touching a woman without her consent at a popular Sydney hotel.

Parramatta Eels star Dylan Brown fronted Sydney’s Downing Centre Local Court on Wednesday morning over allegations he touched a woman’s breast without her consent at the Golden Sheaf Hotel in Double Bay on June 3.

He was charged with five counts of sexually touching the woman without consent and was granted bail.

The 23-year-old entered the building shortly before 9.30am on Wednesday, but he didn’t walk into the courtroom until two hours later.

Defence solicitor David Newham told the court that his client intended to plead guilty to two of the counts, while the remaining three charges are going to be withdrawn by police.

At a previous court hearing, Mr Newham told media he reviewed CCTV footage of the alleged incident at Bondi Police Station.

“It does not support the notion that on five separate occasions Mr Brown has approached this young woman and with both hands has touched both of her breasts,” Mr Newham said.

“It does not support that at this point in time.”

Mr Brown’s bail conditions state he cannot enter any licensed premises in the Double Bay area.

According to court documents, police allege Mr Brown touched the woman’s breasts between 11.19pm and 11.20pm on Saturday night.

Mr Brown, who was born in New Zealand, has played 95 games for the Eels since making his debut with the team in 2019 when he was just 18.

Once the news was made public, the NRL exercised their discretion under their “no fault” stand-down policy to sideline Mr Brown.

“The Parramatta Eels have been informed by the NRL that Dylan Brown has been stood down from team selection as part of the NRL’s no fault stand down policy regarding the (alleged) incident this past weekend,” the club said in a statement at the time.

“Dylan will not be eligible for selection until he receives clearance from the NRL.

“Out of respect for the legal process now under way, the club will not be making any further comment at this time.”

  • Okay, just as many here assumed. Charges reduced and given he has already been suspended we should see him back against the Warriors. Unless of course the NRL realises he plays for Parramatta and decides to add onto his punishment.

    • I don't think he will be available for warriors. He hasn't even entered the plea formally or been sentenced. He will be back by finals though

    • Super, I'd be surprised if the NRL don't add to Dylan's suspension after the proceedings are finished taking full PR advantage to make a statement: we won't tolerate any inappropriate behaviour against women.

Patting themselves on the back, whilst also receiving plaudits from many women and groups. The message: ahhh, finally the NRL are showing some backbone.

      • I wouldn't be surprised if they did slap an extra couple of weeks on him but I would find that excessive given Curran pled guilty over an assault and copped absolutely nothing from the NRL.

        • Agree, Super. Yet, Curran didn't plead guilty to assaulting a young woman and knocking her two front teeth out, bloodying her mouth, and stealing her phone. He did all that to a young male. There's little likelihood, they would have done nothing if it were a woman he assaulted.

FC Justice Melissa Perry (who dealt with DeBelin's appeal) kind of summed it up nicely when she said the NRL have a legal right to protect their interests and reputation and responsibilities to protect women and children (even though De Belin didn't allegedly assault any children).

She didn't say anything about protecting men.

She noted the role of the De Belin's of the NRL world was twofold. One, being the intellectual property rights" of the NRL. And two, being the NRL's "live advertising space."

          • Curran injured a 16 yr old.....a child....yet why was their no sanction

  • So what will the NRL do now? Will they allow Dylan Brown to play games or not? What's everyone's thoughts

    • They have  different rules for every club fuck knows

    • I wouldn't be surprised if he is stood down for the rest of the season. The NRL will take this opportunity to make a statement,  be prepared for a minimum 8 weeks.

      • Yep, he will be stood down until the next court hearing absolutely no doubt about it. Dylan has himself to blame
