Tuilagi has secured a release from the final two seasons of his contract with the Sea Eagles to sign a two-year deal under Brad Arthur at the Eels.

The Samoan international joined Manly from the Wests Tigers in 2023, featuring in 17-games for the Sea Eagles.

However, a logjam of backrowers at the Sea Eagles, including Haumole Olakua’atu, Ben Trbojevic and Josh Schuster has led Tuilagi to link with Parramatta.

Tuilagi will provide much required depth and competition in the back row at the Eels where Shaun Lane is regarded as the only edge forward guaranteed a starting spot in Brad Arthur’s best 17.

For the Sea Eagles, Tuilagi’s exit will enable the club to create further flexibility in their salary cap.

  • Yep we absolutely needed a back rower not a outside back or back up half

    • As long as he's a bargain buy, I'd take any big bopper over Davey and Murchie.

Only ones that are whinging or complaining are the Davey fan club

  • They told him to leave didn't they? So surely they're paying part of his contract. I'm not surprised and if he can get back to his form at Tigers (never thought i'd say that) he's a big signing for us.

  • I do rate him as a player so this is a good pickup. Probably to cover the loss of Davey. Does have some I pap about him.

  • This guy is a certified bum going by the talk on the silvertails, every week the manly fans blew up on their forum that he's not even good enough to be playing reggies.

Comments like 'not good enough for 1st grade' 'doiesnt even try out there'' ''worst defence possile'' ''no heart'' litter his entire thread and only get worse as it goes on.

You couldnt find any worse talk about a player if you tried.

    WTF is our club doing?

I dont think ive ever read worse things abouta player coming to our club, i failed to find one positive comment quickly flicking through in a 40 page thread.

The home die hard fans always know best, theyve been watching him closly and a lot of them know their stuff and are on the money much more than the dopey media.

      • He must be the only one venge, go check out his long thread on the silvertails, its not good mate

        • Think he was injured a lot of the season and didn't really look comfortable at manly. Playing outside schuster or Cooper johns will do that to you 🤣

          • He was playing well when he was at the Tigers.

      • Yep up until 2023 - not many who joined last year developed under BA, Hopgood is the only outlier.

        • Though he had roughly 4-5 to mold. We see some players like Cartwright and Greig take years to develop to where we want them. Doorey looks alright the others not so much but some would fall through the cracks if the focus is on 1-2 certain players.
