There's a significant amount of players off contract for 2027 so I thought we'd do our favourite GM, Mark O'Neill a hand by helping him identify a few potential players worth chasing that will help give us a competitive chance to play for the finals next year. We do have Luai, Leniu, Schiller and Su'a coming, but I think we're still short a couple of backs. As for 2028, we need to find a 5/8 and while i'm a fan of Volkman, just quite aint there yet, well at least for the topic of this off season blog.
I've had a look at the players off contract for 2027 and 2028 based on Zero Tackle's comprehensive list and have added players from each club that we could target.
2027 Position Priority (open to your suggestions)
- Left Wing (a strike winger to replace JAC) Let's trot baby! 😆
- Left Centre (Best, Bostock are obvious choices)
- Left 2nd Row (depends where Jack Williams plays
- Backup Fullback (Someone that can cover wing when Simonson gets injured and Fullback)

I have a couple of options below
- Left Wing (Xavier Savage, Deine Mariner, Trai Fuller)
- Left Centre (Best,Campbell Graham, Bostock, Charnze Nicoll-Klokstad)
- Left 2nd Row (Liam Martin)
- Backup Fullback (Cody Ramsey, Deine Mariner )

Can't see Canberra letting all those outside backs go. A few there to choose from with Newcastle and fins.
Neither do I, but if we needed a strike winger Savage would make a great option as he can cover Fullback as well. So then we may be able to offer a little more than Canberra.
Cody Ramsay filled in well for Tedesco during the season
He was awesome, these are the kind of spots we need to consider, not just in the 1st grade positions.
Burton from dogs, Wilton from sharks, Best from knights and Bostock from dolphins as our centers, Cody Ramsey and Billy Smith from chooks some or all would be great.
Wilton is a good one, just look at how good Jack Williams has been for us, and Wilton's the same kind of player.
Mariner a good option, he is Samoan, seems we are building alot of Samoans here now
Jaylan De Groot im a fan of from Titans
Think Jack Howarth on his way here
someone like Xavier Savage is what we need
Fonua Pole a good bench option
This dragons guy Gutherson goes well i hear
I think Howarth has been vetoed, we'd have to wait till 2028.
I love Gutho for center, but he pissed a few people of off here. Seeing him retire in the Blue & Gold would make me happy.
You know it would piss a lot of people off, and if we are unable to get who we want for the centres, we could do worse given what we have. Gee I would love to see them make him Captain again and finish in B&G as well, not to mention the shit that will come out of Wizard's mouth in the process......Chiefy would be a bit "gummy" as well I suggest LOL
After the news of Fox's B sample testing negative, I will be happily striking #1 from the list ☺️
