Nelson Asofa-Solomona has turned his back on up to seven NRL clubs interested in his service, quitting the NRL to take up a full-time deal in boxing.

News.com.au can exclusively reveal the NRL’s biggest man has quit rugby league indefinitely to pursue his dream of becoming a heavyweight boxing champion.

The 115kg enforcer has also become the first off-contract player to shun the mega bucks of R360 and also the riches on offer in the English Super League.

The former Melbourne Storm forward has signed a full-time boxing deal and could earn up to $1m a year in his new sport.

Plans are already underway for a rugby league super fight with another high profile NRL behemoth.

  • This is the worst off season I've seen for Parra buying no one and sitting there. Last time we did that we missed the finals in 2023 and 24. Something has to give.

    • I know right, unless their juniors are amazing, I'm worried if Moses and others get injured next year and we might get the spoon or have another shit season. Haven't signed anyone, at least Dragons signed a few junior players coming through we haven't signed shit.

      • It's worrying, letting Lomax walk with no replacement but simmo is a worry. As a fan I'm confused where are our focuses are and why haven't we landed big fishes or replacements that could suit our young squad and vet players. It just starts to make me question as a fan.

        • Yep but concerning 😟

        • Simmo can't make it through a season, so it's a huge risk  only carrying 2 first grade level wingers in the squad

        • 101 We didn't let Lomax walk, He Walked.

When your wife leaves you didn't "let her walk"...she just Walked....and if you find a way to force her to stay good luck with that whole "Happy Life" thing.

Lomax walked is the whole sentence, but the club and others wanted a narrative

          • Lomax wasn't anyone's wife, he was an employee with an exclusive contract which we agreed to terminate. The reason we agreed is because we had better uses for his cap space. Expect contract extensions for our very talented crop of youngsters. And Jake Tago.

            • Pou Reply , you do not need to be an apologist for the process, if you believed everything you said about our club they would not quiet be in the street they are in.....i.e. an unattractive place to head....I agree that is a perception not necessarily a fact!

Contracr extensions for our very talented crop of youngsters including Jake Tago (not a good example of what your saying) is very subjective. it would be generally unusual to get more than 2 first graders out of a good crop.....if we have no alternatives, then so be it.

I don't accept the argument to terminate Lomax was to make better use of his cap space.....we have already aknowledged we cannot replace him with someone better and the juniors coming through are not outstanding outside backs! Lomax left for reasons seemingly known by him and our administration staff.....and is not being made available to others.

              • Lomax was replaced by Simonsson, who would probably have left otherwise. We use Lomax's money to sign a replacement for Simonsson and spend the difference elsewhere in the roster.

              • Lomax was on a deal of all deals in our favour.  Probably the only player in the squad outside of rookies that we were getting his paycheque worth out of.  When a blokes on less than Matto and is a current Australian and NSW rep player , it's not in our interests to terminate the agreement.

Unless you're signing like for like replacent there is no better use of his cap money.  Lomax just realised he's going nowhere at the club he wanted out of as soon as Arthur was punted. When we didn't sign a single player of note this year he was like " fark this " .

His footy went so far backward this season under Ryles it's not funny.  Couldn't have been an enjoyable season once The Cotton Wool Kid stubbed his toe again or whatever injury it was this season ( honestly can't even remember what it was this time) .

"Yes, we went hard for Galvin. Yes, if Ryles sees someone as the answer, he might go for it. Yes, Wiz's "bench fantasy" is a scene out of a LaLaLand movie.
But again, Luai & Galvin aren't the same, right? A $1.1-1.5m six with POs?  Mmm. Would you? If…"

"Arguably the best winger in the comp when he's in his happy place , on what 600 or 650k?  Ryles needs his head examined if he thinks that's overs.
Unfortunately me thinks Ryles coaching inexperience was what drove Lomax's decision.  He went…"
