Nate Myles Tackling Technique

When most of the rugby league community hear a player called a grub they generally think of the player who is constantly niggling, doing anything to get under a players skin and generally employing dirty tactics.

Whilst not at the top of everyone's list, Nate Myles is definitely at the top of mine-not so much for the niggling but more so the intent to cause long term injuries. If you get a chance, watch a replay of the tackles he did on Tep (against Parra) that forced him off the field and then this week on  Peter Mata'utia-out for 8 weeks.

Both are bad and both are deliberate-we're just lucky Tep's leg wasn't broken. He employs his "technique" when a player is being held in the upper body and then he slides down the player's leg putting his full body weight on the shin as he hits the ground. I cringe every time I see him do it yet it seems he has no case to answer.

You might remember Paul Gallen said similar re Myles diving in at players legs when they are being held in origin which is why he put one on his chin (I'll never get sick of watching that one).

For all its bunker reviews, slow motion replays etc, the NRL continually misses this grub doing this week in week out. If they continue to let this go unpunished we'll see a lot worse than bruised shins and medial ligament tears.

  • He's no stranger to fouls, taking a dump in a door way of a hotel room was a classic.

Thinking about the person in the room opening the door to find a "front rower sized" turd on the floor cracks me up.

"I did modern day as 1998 onwards as I didn't see them play, as some here haven't. Where I believe majority of people here have seen all the modern day players play.
Plus it frees up some spots like we all know who 5/8 will be but now no idea."
