Guys
I thought I would let you know of some information I got from Daniel Anderson a couple of weeks ago.
I ran into him at the shops and because he is a family acquaintance, I had a good chat to him about the state of the team. Unfortunately, he was shopping with his wife, which meant I only got to chat to him for about 10-15 minutes. It sucks cos I had so many more questions to ask him.
I ran into him the Friday day before the Storm game. First off I have to say that DA is the best person to coach Parra. He grew up in the area and loves his Parramatta Eels. You can tell he loves the club as he spoke with so much passion and commitment.
Now there really isnt anything groundbreaking to tell, but as mad Parra fans, I know you would appreciate every little detail. Ill summarise what we chatted about.
- Credit to 1eyed, as the Thursday night before, it was published on this site that Humble was replacing Matt Keating on the bench and I mentioned how Humble was playing and he was extremely suprised that I knew this information and laughed when I told him where I got the info from. He was impressed. On Matt Keating, I doubt we will see him back in first grade. Got the impression that DA isnt a big fan of him. Believes that over the years the MK was made to look like a better player than he was due to the good players around him making him look good.
- 100% believes Daniel Mortimer is our halfback for now and future. He is disappointed with the way he is playing, finding himself in two minds and not being able to make a decision. Believes he is suffering from the second year syndrome and living up to the benchmark he set last year. Knows he will find his way and pointed out that many good halfback ie. Thurston and Pearce took a number of years to find their way (which is a good point). The only problem is we only have him for a couple of years.
- Talked about playing Grothe in the forwards, and he said that he doesnt have the mental toughness or the cardio capacity to play in the forwards. He compared him to a cheetah, good to go for short bursts but thats it.
- I mentioned how Inu was killing us and playing terribly. He just looked at me shook his head and rolled his eyes. Seems like he will be happy when he is gone.
- Remaining very positive about the rest of the season, stating that they had got through a hard part of the draw, by playing both the Dragons and Sea Eagles twice and Cowboys away. Extremely disappointed about the losses to Cronulla, didnt know how to explain it, but thought those 4 points could come back to haunt us down the track.
- Feels our forwards make it difficult for the halves to get good roll on play as they are slow at playing the ball which in turn results in slow ball to the halves. He only credited Timmy Mannah to be the only one exception to this.
Thats about it, wish there was more time to talk to him, but hopefully I might run into him again.
Cheers

I love these inside tidbits. Thanks for the update. For mine I always liked Ando but he had me convinced he's a good coach with that last round rope a dope of st merge last year.
