Moderation Note: Forum Standards

We understand the frustration many are feeling, and the overwhelming, relentless sentiment surrounding the club at the moment.

However, we are not going to tolerate abuse or harassment directed at others simply because they may hold a different opinion. This also extends to individuals within the club itself and players.

We all expect standards from our club and players. We also expect standards on this forum.

For clarity's sake, the majority of posters have not crossed the line.

Moving forward, we will begin shutting down blogs, archiving threads, or removing content where necessary, and expect people to de-escalate in order to avoid further moderation action.

      • Richard, I think all of us identify with the relentless negativity. For instance, it's highly likely almost every member of 1EyedEel would qualify as a 'highly identified fan'. That is, very strong connections to the team, versus say social or casual connection to the team. In psychology terms, the team is an extension of identity.

But that also means some are going to preserve that identity by the strategy of "lighten up a bit", which accepts some failure in order for optimism to not die (in this context, divorcing identity from results in some way?). But "lighten up" is just as much of a defense strategy as "relentless negativity". Except the latter tends to be associated with a narrowing, protective move regarding identity: walls go up and failure is treated as unacceptably destructive.

There is no one best way but the higher the degree of negativity the more challenging it becomes to sustain community

    • Clintorian, I am with you on this. The week before we beat the Cowboys, all is well, and the rainbow is out. A week later, it is just doom and gloom. We are frustrated- the coaching staff is also going by their comments. They can see what is happening at training and cannot understand why it is not translated onto the field.

Maybe I am being an optimist and wear blue and gold lasses, but I see some good in what is going on. Don't agree with the Pezet decision, but a lot of the other happenings are showing progress. I can understand the frustrations that many others are showing, but as my father says, " Born an Eel, Die an Eel". Nothing will change that.

    • My thoughts exactly Clintorian

    • Wait, Clintorian, you're suggesting the monotonous sack-a-thon, mostly directed at "management", is, ya know, monotonous? laughing

  • I apologize if any of my comments or blogs have been disrespectful of others.

    • Easy solution, don't write disrespectful comments or blogs, then you won't have to apologise.

      • I assume that your comment is inclusive of everyone 😉. Not just 'yours truly' The unfortunate thing is Michael that everyone interprets blogs and comments differently. Some are more sensitive than others. An innocent comment or even blog can easily be misinterpreted. At the end of the day that's why 'moderators' are here to adjudicate fairly. Note that I did say 'IF' as I don't believe I have intentionally but I like to say sorry IF I have

        • I don't believe I have intentionally...funny guy. Do you write your own stuffl?

          • Do you always follow other people's comments around 😉

"Ok let's say that's the case, why only for 26 and 27? Well by 2028, Koina and Talagi will be ready for FG. Then you can have a rotation of Tuivaiti, Brown, Talagi and Koina. Damn good forward pack there.
Though is it better for a long term quality…"

"PG, three questions.

So for "consistency" and fairness you want moderation to "shut down" anyone who doesn't fully support the relentless shots at players and the club?
What do you mean by "shut down"?
You feel people who have highly critical have…"
