Mitchell Moses

Just a small note Thankyou for leaving our team in the learch for today..Yep your Origin call up is ticked off and much more important......Interesting that 1.3 Million dollars is apportioned to your abilty to play for the Parramatta Eels Football Club...........BUT if you are injured and out AGAIN for a long period of time ...it pretty much sums up your career at Parramatta...time will tell

  • It’s being overlooked that Moses was ruled out by club medical staff. If he wasn’t cleared to play, that’s the end of the discussion from a club perspective. Parramatta weren’t going to risk aggravating it, and Ryles would follow medical advice. If NSW choose to pick him after their own assessment, that’s between him and Origin not evidence he “chose” Origin over the Eels.

The narrative that he refused to play club footy to prioritise Origin doesn’t line up with how selections actually work. You don’t sit out an NRL game you’re fit for and then magically become unavailable only for club duty while still being in Origin calculations. That’s not how medical clearance or selection processes operate. NSW medical staff will clear him, fair game. But if Parra staff say too big a risk, Ryles is not going to risk him. Especially knowing that if he played he is straight into Origin anyway.

What would you rather, Moses comes back at 90%, plays a full game then plays Origin and wear and tear could be worse? Or he sits out this week, as doctors advised. Let him play Origin, that he was going to be picked for if he played anyway, at 100% and gets through it with his hamstring fully healed and no rehab at Parra to do. There will be management but he's not coming back with his 90% healed hamstring playing two games in 9 days. Where he gets a rest, plays and a rest again with the bye in 16.

Some on other sites claim he “doesn’t care” or is “checked out” that doesn’t stack up either. He’s been heavily involved in games he has played, talks to referees constantly, and has already played through injury this season. That’s not the behaviour of someone coasting.

Frustration with injuries is fair. But turning that into a story that he’s opting out of club games for Origin is speculation, not fact.
