"After Parramatta's season opening win on Thursday night against the Bulldogs, Mitch Moses has slammed the Captain's Challenge, labelling it stupid as it slows the game down and allows unwanted tactics to play out in tight games.
The Parramatta star joined the Triple M Saturday Scrum, telling the hilarious moment he turned to Reagen Campbell-Gillard on Thursday night for their first challenge of the year."
He goes on to say that he asked RCG if it was stripped, RCG's response was "Yeah, yeah, yeah". So Mitch told Gutho to review it.

What's your thoughts on the Captain's Challenge? I'm not sold on it yet, interested to see if teams hold onto it until late in the game from now on.

I like it. It forces the players to be honest about what transpired or, if they truly believe they have been robbed, it gives them an oppertunity to challenge.
People are naturally resistant to change. However, it works well in the tennis and cricket spheres. I think in time we will all accept and appreciate it.
Manly had a successful challenge on the weekend and you could tell from DCE's reaction to the original decision that he knew 100% he had been robbed. It was a massive play. It kept Manly attacking on Melbourne's try line, instead of defending. I bet the manly fans loved the way it worked.
I think that Michael Morgan got dudded though. He should have won that challenge.
I like it at this point
So does that mean it's a challenge to make the captains challenge to see if it's worth making a challenge in the first place .
Either that, or we go old school and look at settling it in the ring at the Hordern Pavillion on a Monday night!
So that's a challenge in its self as I don't like it either
That's pretty challenging Slugg.
Problem with challenging the ref is they are effectively getting Ceasar to investigate Ceasar who will always tell you- "I can find no fault with Ceasar."
Big fan in theory. Let's see how it goes.
But Parra need to be smarter than just if one of the boys thinks the ref got it wrong then back them.
This comes down to similar skills as game management that coach and senior players seem to be lacking.
Need to assess probability of success, what the potential gain is and potential loss if get wrong
Typical Parra game management is if you have the ball go for a try. If the refs gives a decision then challenge it. We need someone who understands managing probabilities in coaching staff and senior playing group.
You're aware the players have 10 seconds to make a decision and they have to do it without the aid of a replay whilst under fatigue?
That is why they should have practiced various scenarios allready. A smart coach- captain would have done that already. I guarantee Bellamy and Smith have done this and have a good idea for what situations the risk reward is in their favour. Smart people look smart because of good preparation.
Smart teams will have done their homework and know which types of penalties the refs are most likely to get wrong and that this will be able to be picked up by the bunker. There is a lot that can be done to facilitate good quick decision making. Smart teams will have done this, we haven't
I mean every scenario is different and much of it depends on The Bunker's interpretation anyway. I think over the first few weeks teams are just sorting out how it's being approached by the referees. The most effective way to use it would be to simply challenge definite mistakes and leave 50-50 ones alone. Six other teams didn't manage successful reviews so I'd say it's definitely a work in progress.
