Ennis jerking off over d Brown. Must have mentioned a dozen times how Newcastle have the greatest player in the comp. And him going "up the highway " to Newcastle will turn them into a huge force lol.
Ive never seen a commentator jerk off as much as Ennis.
Sure Newcastle have a fine player but 1.4 mil is totally ridiculous. There's a reason why they are still the spoon favourites despite Brown's signature. Do you think they'll be spoon favourites if they signed a Moses, Cleary, Katoa or Jerome hughes or a dozen other players who are on much less than 1.4 mill.
Its a ridiculous contract and Ennis can't see it

He has been my favourite player for eels since the year he made his debut for us. I always defended him. This year was the first time I questioned his attitude to the club as his form was definitely putrid. His defence had fallen off which was something he was always a gun at regardless of how poor someone people thought his attack was. Happy he had a great Pacific Championship. But next year he will be playing behind one of the worst forward packs in the nrl next season without a 7 to steer the team around and lead the gameplan. So I am not optimistic about how he will perform at the Knights.
@EA
Excellent summation EA, I would agree on everything you said.....I still maintain he was burn't out previous season ended, but it seems that the change, the break and the absence of pressure he felt when trying to be Moses BROWN has revitalised him somewhat.
His critics on here have had no idea what was thrust on him. Let's hope he is starting to learn.
Sometimes when players look like they don't care, they are badly misread. Mark Waugh as a cricketer comes to mind and the contrarian to that was Steve who was always so serious....both rediculous talents that expressed so in different ways.
Whilst highly critical of Blaize Talagi as I have been EA (i know you rate him highly) don't give up on him, whilst I will never be a fan I do admire the way Penrith (specifically the Cleary's) have mentored him....if he ever learns to tackle (no reason why he cant) then he will make it. I don't believe he ever would have made it under BA, but he was a chance under Ryles, when you look at the way he is handling our juniors.
I also know that you think I am too obtuse when dealing with you. Don't be upset, I just say it as I see it but still admire the work you have done in keeping us informed.
My guess is as you see more and more come through, you will know much more whats happening than what us "know alls" think we do! Lol
That won't be on DB though EA that's on Holbrook to come up with a plan to get the best out of him and there spine.Guys like DB and Moses are best used when they play to one another the left and right rubbish is a blight on the game for talents like them they need to be consistently on the ball.
When Moses and Brown played together here the team look best when they played to one another.I suspect they'll try and run something like what we've been doing getting our halves wider via a connect man who that is I don't know.
It wont be on Brown but fans and media will make it on him.
Brown was distracted this year and i wonder if he had his time again and given the offer later would he accept it? He more likely still would but seemed he was wondering about his decision. But Brown is coming into his peak as a half, usually mid 20's is when a half starts to scrape the surface. Even Moses said he was 28-29 before the game started slowing down for him.
Brown in the NZ team, is similar to him with us from 2020-22, when surrounded by form he can be a world beater. Yes majority of players perform in good teams, but Brown showed he could dominate at times.
You are right Newcastle, due to having 25% of their cap taken up by two players (Ponga & Brown), are going to struggle in their pack and Holbrook is going to take his time investing in the juniors. That takes time and means possibly some tough years at Newcastle which means pressure on Brown, particularly if Ponga leaves.
Brown has looked a superstar before in NZ games earning Man of match awards and the hype over his potential continued but he doesn't have the discipline or love the game enough to put the effort in week after week in the NRL.
Good luck to him and Newcastle but the chance of him suddenly putting in consistent performances worthy of $1 million a year is very small. Maybe having a baby and settling down off the field will help him focus his talents to some degree but I just don't see how he will justify the contract he received.
Big difference when playing test footy. Samoa were bog average in the second half. Lets see how he goes behind the knights pack lol.
Brown's in the conversation for Golden Boot this year. NZ have a great forward pack and they provide a ball runner like Brown the space and time to do his thing. Newcastle have a pop gun set of middles that can barely hold the ball.
The quality of the game has certainly gone downhill if Brown is in the running for the Golden Boot.
