So it becomes more clearer, the $300k offered from Melbourne included $211,000 of that going towards Matterson's contract and $89,000 as a transfer fee. Instead of what we thought of $300k transfer fee and maybe taking Matto as well.
So many felt the transfer fee was going on the cap of $211,000. Not correct, that would be for Matto's contract. That is not a great deal.

If we can medically retired Matto then it's all a moot point anyway because we've solved our own problem. That article makes it seem like this scenario would make us more likely to accept the Storm offer, I would have thought it's the opposite.
If we can medically retire Matto ourselves then the Storm literally have no leverage at all and nothing to offer us of interest or worth.
Unless of course VLandys is going to go "full mask off corrupt puppet master" and tell us (quietly) that he will only allow the medical retirement to come off the cap if we accept the Storm offer. Which wouldn't surprise me.
If he medically retires we get all of his salary, so yeah makes no sense to accept.
Guarantee that the NRL will try that stunt. However they may be too shit scared to say stuff like this to us now. We have a Barrister SC on speed dial.
