Max Popo extends til 2028

Parramatta Eels SG Ball and Jersey Flegg Lock Forward Max Popo has extended til the end of 2028. It is great news for the club as they strengthen their pathways further. From the Pacific Sports Management page.

It is also worth noting, from Pacific Sports, we also signed Stirling Mataniu Faumui, from the Wests Tigers pathways. He is a Utility but played a bit of Lock for Western Suburbs in Laurie Daley Cup. Might feature for SG Ball this year.

  • This is all OK and we all hope they turn into fantastic players and we are blessed with having them locked up for years at way unders but ....

    • But what?

      • ....but parra

      • Some have difficulty shifting their own thought process and accepting that we are in the process of positive change. That's why there's always a BUT or a MAYBE or an IF inserted somewhere in their viewpoint - a caveat in case things don't work out.

I read that the vast majority of projects created by Jeff Bazos (Amazon) are monumental failures costing his business a fortune. We (the public) don't even know about most of them because they don't get off the ground. But it only takes a handful of successes to deliver amazing results. The key is to keep trying and not give up.

        • You can live in fairy land all you want and be as positive as a rainbow unicorn. I have seen a thousand next big things coming through Parra juniors only to find out they are Pauli Pauli, Jakob Loko and Esi Tonga all rolled into one big brickies labourer.

I will hold onto my reservations until one actually comes good.

          • Don't want to be that guy, but Esi Tonga wasn't a junior haha

          • Very true and there will always be a high number of talented juniors that don't progress as liked but it's never a bad thing to have the talented ones locked up for a few more years. I like what the club is doing now to develop this talent as it increases the chances one or two will come good. Realistic expectations are practical but sprinkle it with hope. Don't stop believing TB.

          • Have a read of the book "The Psychology of Money" by Morgan Housel if you get the chance. He explains it better than me

  • Nah this kid is a gun. Was prob our best forward in SG ball last year and would have earnt a NSW u19 jersey if he didnt get injured in the GF. Its good to see we are keeping the good ones.

    • Will he play NSW Cup this year? Is he even eligible?

"Whose going to do the main goal kicking this year? Moses, Pezet, Russell ? Or maybe another? Pezet is very good. Moses very good, Russell ok but struggles with kicks that are closer to the sidelines. "

"Just no injuries please. I dont care if we lose. Means nothing if we rock up to Melbourne round 1 and get flogged.
Mitch should kick a few balls, make 1-2 tackles, pass the ball once or twice and then come off.
