Lot of luck involved in an nrl season.

Just looking at the ladder and recent results, bulldogs raiders both had strong seasons last year and now look horrible and languishing at the bottom of the table. Yes recruitment and coaching is imporant but you also need a hell of a lot of luck with draw, bounce of ball and injury. I think considering everything that has gone wrong for us in first 10 rounds Ryles has done well. Ciraldo and Ricky not so much 😂

    • Most of the teams play the exact same style of footy so I think a lot of it comes down to luck and the whistle. Most nrl sides very similar with structures

    • Some teams have to make their own luck, others have it handed to them. The general population know which teams fall into which category.

  • The game has structurally changed significantly .....a lot of teams have not adjusted including the Bulldogs and Raiders.....

Not to sure Im that convinced with Vlandy ball

could this bring Burton to us lol   ...may be ??

  • The draw is also important...we played storm rnd 1 (never lost) and magic round...imagine if we played them when they were in their form slump

  • Neither of those are luck - both changed their spine.

Jamal Fogarty was superb at the Raiders, as soon as he left they've crumbled.

Reed Mahoney and Toby Sexton both moved on from the Bulldogs, and they've plunged down the ranks since.

These are both more proof that a great, balanced roster with key spine players almost exclusively dictates success.

    • So the dogs made a blunder in bringing in Galvin?

      • No, they're just using him the wrong way. Not a halfback. But the kid is trying his pants off.

        • So they have made an error in getting him, many of us said at the time it was a poor choice and there would be ramifications. Some claimed our recruitment and retention team were incompetent because he didn't head our way. We aren't responsible for other club's fuck ups.

      • Yes the Bulldogs were dumb playing Galvin out of position and it clearly shows. Very, very dumb. Classic Gus move though - he ends up getting too caught in his own thoughts and makes dumb moves.

I think every single pundit said the same thing - that it made no sense for Galvin to go to the Bulldogs over the Eels. He would have been the perfect answer for us. And Pezet would have been a much better answer for the Bulldogs.

But Adam both things are true. The Eels were the perfect logical choice for Galvin, and our R&R couldn't close the deal. We lost to a club playing him out of position and it's been detrimental for his career.

I don't think this proves the point you think it does. It further proves how inept our R&R was...we were the perfect answer with Brown leaving, we had history with the family, and yet we still lost out.

        • We didn't lose at all, it isn't an all out go to any lengths competition to sign every single player who becomes available on the market. Galvin going to the dogs has weakened their position significantly (if we win tonight we will pass them on the ladder and we all know how diabolical our season has been).

You place unfair onus on our recruitment and don't take into consideration all circumstances. Galvin for whatever reason was obviously hellbent on going to the dogs one way or another and there was nothing reasonable that we could do to prevent it. All in all this has been an acceptable outcome, not the incompetence you constantly claim to exist.
