For the more savvy legal eagles on the site, what does this mean and does it implicate the Storm as it proves they engaged in illegal dealings with a player under contract? Not only is this looking real bad for them, it looks increasingle poor optics for Lomax who showed little regard for the contract's worth and value not only with Parra, but also the NRL. It would be nice to see a little backbone here by the NRL and not screw over Parra for doing the right thing by the player, even though Storm and Lomax look Guilty AF. Bring in the Integrity Unit for this one and buckle up, I think we're going to see even more shady shenannigans.

  • The Subpoened documents from Lomax, His managers/ lawyers and from Storm. Now show that prior to getting a release Lomax and the Storm entered into a contract agreement for him to play at the Storm. This contract was then placed upon the NRL portal, with the Storm not getting the Eels permission and believing that it was an easy process to offer $200k Lomax notified the Eels that his deed of release was not enforceable and that he had signed with the Storm. This is why the Eels had no choice but to head to the supreme court.

The NrL were well aware of both the Storm contract and the Eels deed of release contract as both were placed onto the NrL portal and registered with the NRL.

A side note Lomax also entered into first a contract with R360 before getting his release from the Eels as well.

This all indicates Lomax has misled the Eels and that he was walking away from the club / breaking his contract no matter what permissions he got.

    • Sounds like it was in the best interest of Lomax and Storm to not send this to court. Looks terrible on both their parts 🤣

      • This is a slap in the face for every NRL Fan if you ask me. I hope they burn for this one.

        • I was wondering how far the lawyers would dig into all the background and emails, hope they keep digging lol. Nrl usually covers all of this stuff up and dusts it under the rug

    • It now looks like the Eels may have to widen the scope of their Supreme court hearings and involve The Storms part owner Matt Tripp in proceedings and to have him testify to what they have done in attempting to disregard the Eels contract and sign Lomax to a contract. If this is the case the matter may not go ahead on 12/13 February to give Tripp/ Storm time to prepare their responses.

Its now coming to light exactly how I stated a couple of weeks ago. The Storm had signed Lomax without approaching the Eels to gain a release, they had registered the preliminary contract with the NRL via the portal. The NRL were aware of this and sided with the Storm.

I love this part below, it destroys the Storm. No wonder Tripp came out today saying the Eels were not keeping things professional, and were leaking!  What a joke!

QUOTE:  "Mr Moses told the court that would raise questions about whether the Storm had acted in good faith during their discussions.

“Of particular concern have been documents that have been produced that demonstrate that they have adopted the stance that this was just going to be a fait accompli in respect of this matter and it was going to happen regardless of the position put by Parramatta,” Mr Moses said"
    • 10 year ban I hear you say Vlandys???

  • Don't you just love discovery documents. There's literally nowhere to hide. I loved how the Eels Barrister suggested that in light of this evidence the Melbourne Storm may be required to join in the proceedings. Absolutely brilliant stuff. This is getting very ugly for Lomax and now for Melbourne too. Surely the Storn walk away from Lomax now rather than risk being dragged into court. Well played!!

    • Stage is set for a cracking first game for the season.

    • We couldn't have asked for a better result when requesting those documents. I agree that Melbourne will now be a little more wary about going ahead any further. I love the way this is playing out, Parra just keep playing it smarter with Lomax and Melbourne being exposed for what they really are. The best part is that the NRL can't do anything

    • And yet many in the media have gone with the "it sucks but it's the way it goes as he needs to be in the NRL" approach. Sucked in to them too. Rugby League Guru believes Melbourne have more leverage since the NRL want him in the game saying it sucks for Parra but way it goes. What a fucktard.
