From The Sydney Morning Herald...
Melbourne’s pursuit of Zac Lomax could prove more costly than expected if the NRL deems the club’s promise to cover the exiled winger’s legal bills should be included in the Storm’s salary cap.
Parramatta began legal proceedings to prevent Lomax from joining the Storm, given his release from a four-year contract was contingent on the Eels providing written consent. The Blues winger was granted a release to join rebel rugby competition R360, but has been left in limbo after its inaugural season was put back until 2028.
Lomax’s hopes of making his Melbourne debut against former club Parramatta in the opening round have been thwarted after his court hearing was scheduled to end a day after the AAMI Park clash.
According to court documents made available last week, the Eels claim the Storm indemnified Lomax’s court expenses.

Sure are, that's exactly what I was thinking with the mental health claims. They (Lomax) are digging themselves a bigger and bigger hole the further this progresses.
When you are a club that always gets what they want, when someone stands up to you, you have no clue how to react so throw all these things and hope one sticks to regain control. They are not in control and it is hurting them.
Times they are a changing LB, can you feel it? We are moving towards being one of those clubs who have the ascendancy and we won't back down.
The Storm must have realised how screwed that are from a legal perspective and needed Abdo to apply the blowtorch to help them from copping this on the cap, not just getting the deal done.
Every day is another hit for them. I hope they keep coming.
Yeah and according to some Melbourne fans we are doing all this leaking to sway public opinion as we are fighting a losing battle. Maybe it's so dark in the bleak city they cannot see their phones properly as no need to sway public opinion, we already have it.
LB, that's fake news. It's bright as F down here in Melbourne. Except for 5 mins from now when it will be snowing. But bright again 2 mins later. Then a solar eclipse. Then sunny. Maybe that's why Storm have are grasping, they just don't know what's coming and need the stability of telling themselves they're not the ogre in the Lomax story?
Our legal team with Gibson tactics and Sterling/Kenny execution.......beautiful
Brett Kenny is the howwwwwse?
Ahaha this is just too good. I'd love to know if this hadn't have gone to court, if this would've been off the books. Salary cap cheaters doing what they do best.
you can guarantee the NRL will NOT include this in the storms salary cap.
