From The Sydney Morning Herald...

Melbourne’s pursuit of Zac Lomax could prove more costly than expected if the NRL deems the club’s promise to cover the exiled winger’s legal bills should be included in the Storm’s salary cap.

Parramatta began legal proceedings to prevent Lomax from joining the Storm, given his release from a four-year contract was contingent on the Eels providing written consent. The Blues winger was granted a release to join rebel rugby competition R360, but has been left in limbo after its inaugural season was put back until 2028.

Lomax’s hopes of making his Melbourne debut against former club Parramatta in the opening round have been thwarted after his court hearing was scheduled to end a day after the AAMI Park clash.

According to court documents made available last week, the Eels claim the Storm indemnified Lomax’s court expenses.

      • When you are a club that always gets what they want, when someone stands up to you, you have no clue how to react so throw all these things and hope one sticks to regain control. They are not in control and it is hurting them.

        • Times they are a changing LB, can you feel it? We are moving towards being one of those clubs who have the ascendancy and we won't back down.

    • The Storm must have realised how screwed that are from a legal perspective and needed Abdo to apply the blowtorch to help them from copping this on the cap, not just getting the deal done.

Every day is another hit for them. I hope they keep coming.

    • Yeah and according to some Melbourne fans we are doing all this leaking to sway public opinion as we are fighting a losing battle. Maybe it's so dark in the bleak city they cannot see their phones properly as no need to sway public opinion, we already have it.

  • Ahaha this is just too good. I'd love to know if this hadn't have gone to court, if this would've been off the books. Salary cap cheaters doing what they do best.

  • you can guarantee the NRL will NOT include this in the storms salary cap.

    • they need to be careful they dont create a precedence

    • Well V'Landys said they would not break rules with the cap to advantage Storm or Eels. This won't be an advantage for Storm of course so does that go in line?

    • Thing is Storm may win the case, but their skeletons are out of the closet for everyone to see, and 99% of the fans are filthy.

      • All the fans will get over it in about a month. Honestly eve seen far, far, far worse.

The one club happy about this media shitstorm is Manly. They are is a world of pain right now, full blown disaster at that club, fires everywhere.
