  • The main thing Lomax offered was work rate and metres.

Ryles has to kick Penisini up the arse and tell him it's his job to get back and take 2nd hit up.  Pennisi is a good ball runner, it is probably his only strength so he can really earn his keep by stepping up and replacing Lomax metres.

I remember great centres like Justin Hodges and Jennings.  They would be back be for the 2nd tackle hit up or a scoot from dummy half.  Hodges regularly made 10 or more metres from dummy half despite other teams knowing he would run.  I think Penisini has the running game to make a lot of metres each game and help our forward pack out

    • Agreed. Just wrote something similar before seeing this.

    • FM, Lomax never touched the sides with Parra. His combination with Moses was never allowed to prosper, because the opportunity was all catch up.

Lomax carried the team in the time of Moses injury and the demise of Dyllan Brown.

People saying his defence was no good lose sight of all the things he was trying to do, all at once. It is a bit like DB being criticised for his attack but people forgetting he had just been busting his guts defending.

Finally my guess is FH like a lot of people on here, you/they don't realise the people are not chess peices you can move around the board. Lomax was playing like a second rower and creating opportunities out wide, following every kick that was being put in the air......people with experience understand that when trying please everyone, you usually let yourselves down by people who have no understanding of what he was trying to do.

I am bitterly disappointed in losing him as it potentially rips our season apart. I don't understand how this has happened or more importantly allowed to happen.

  • Meh. Now Simonsson will get injured in pre-season.

I am not worried as long as Bailey is back in form and fit. He'll add enough for us not to feel the loss of Zac, and Zac's form was not the best post-origin when we picked form ourselves.

We do need a back up or two in the backs now though.

    • Lomax at his worst is still ten times better than Simonsson at his best.

We could carry Russell in the backline with Lomax there but Simonsson and Russell on the same side would be a complete disaster.

      • Simonsson would be same side as Penisini.

Lomax is better than Bailey clearly but not sure about 10 times.

      • Russell plays on the left with JAC. Don't you watch games.

        • Sure do champ.

          • Simmonsson has some ability as a centre but as a winger make terrible reads. You and me have talked about this for eons BEM, I am agreeing by the way and for your benefit Yehez, Lomax is totally irreplacable. Toho, Coates and our own JAC are as close you can get and even then the style of player Lomax is, is so distinct to the needs of this team, he can not be replaced.

            I'm devastated over this!

    • I think he injured himself yesterday. Not even kidding.
