- The nrl looks like they are doing another crackdown on high tackles when they should crack down on laying in the ruck. It's becoming a constant tactic to slow a team down, one player lays in the play the ball area and the hooker can't get to the ball until the defenders are already 5m away.
This should be called 6 again instantly for not rolling away

Agree. A few years ago there was a trend where the dummy half would intentionally pass the ball into opposition players laying in the ruck to milk a penalty. The NRL cracked down on it. Since then the opposition lay in the ruck knowing they are protected. Somehow it's now the responsibility of the dummy half to work around and dodge the obvious ploy.
I can't believe how many times we get a ruck infringement ruled against us and how much we struggle to get them go our way in critical times. We get them later in the game when square ups are due.
Because the game is rigged
Is a flop still illegal. Any number of teams ( Penrith especially) have 3 man tackles, the last man on is always after the tackle has been affected. Apparently its ok now
Flops are back in and are allowed in 2023.
The ruck is a mess, worse than I can remember.
Of course it is because that's where the game is won and lost.
No, you'll find that most players are in the ruck because they are absolutely gassed. I don't know what the answer is, but the game needs fewer six agains, not more. The defensive team is already handicapped by having one less man in the line, that's penalty enough for me. The game needs fewer penalties, not more, and nothing should ever be an automatic six again, everything should be at the discretion of the ref.
Come on Brett, are you seriously telling me that players aren't hanging around in the ruck to slow it down if they can't get to marker?
It's become more and more obvious ever since they made it illegal for a hooker to deliberately pass the ball into a defender in the ruck. You also regularly see, particularly near the goal line a player "clear" the ruck by rolling to one side but getting to their knees which prevents the dummy half from passing to one side of the field.
Oh I'm sure there are some that are doing it intentionally, I'm just saying it doesn't work as a tactic because it leaves the defensive line a man short.
