The Parramatta Eels signing spree is set to continue with young gun prop Oregon Kaufusi to sign a two-year contract extension until the end of 2022.

In another major boost for the Eels football department, Kaufusi will put pen to paper a tick over 24 hours after boom rookie Dylan Brown agreed to a three-year extension until the end of 2023.

While Mahoney is signed for next season, the Eels see him as a genuine long-term no. 9 and are hopeful of coming to terms on a contract extension.

The retention of the 20-year-old front-rower offsets the loss of Parramatta rookies Stefano Utoikamanu to the Wests Tigers and Trey Mooney to the Canberra Raiders over the course of the last month.

While the Eels football department has come under fire for its penchant for dragging out contract negotiations, the retention of Brown and Kaufusi shows the retention and recruitment committee is making some strong decisions.

  • Good to see Kaufusi locked in.

  • great news

  • Lurker will be in the foetal position, you beat him to the blog.

  • Awesome news, Oregon was a must re-sign after the lost of Stefano.

i can see him getting a regular bench spot this season.

    • Al, despite the loss of Stefano i am pretty happy with the Eels management. Especially Oneil. With the recruitment of Blake, Matterson,RCG and now the retention of Kaufusi and Brown  they seem to be on the right track. Now with Johns as halves coach and hopefully Mahoney resigning i am expexting big things

      • And that's fine, we chose Kaufusi who seems like the more mature kid and easier to deal with.  I would of been scratching my head if we had of lost both.

        • I think Kaufusi has let his footy do the talking and deserves his spot in first grade for next year.Even if Stefano plays a couple of good games, i think we made the right choice overall

    • X2

  • Let's see if we can get Michael Ennis over from Canberra to work with Mahoney as an incentive to re-sign.

    • Joey Johns will be working with Mahoney. There would be nothing wrong with Ennis
