Josh Addo-Carr is facing at least three months on the sidelines should any club throw him a lifeline following his recent roadside drug test failure.
Addo-Carr’s camp is still awaiting formal notification of his B-test sample after he tested positive for cocaine in September.
The NRL and the Eels will wait on that result before any sanction is handed down.
While Parramatta are yet to make a formal decision on Addo-Carr’s future, it is highly likely that the Eels will reluctantly sack the flying winger from his $400,000 contract if the second test result comes back positive.
The NRL are also set to put a 12-game ban on him should any club look to sign him meaning he will be sidelined for almost half of next season.
Even if he is retained by the Eels, they will be missing him for a large chunk of the season. The 12-game ban is in line with the NRL’s illicit drug testing policy, which deems players are automatically sidelined for that period after a second failed test.
The NRL website states: “Players who record a second contravention will serve a 12-match ban, the prospect of contract termination, a fine, and further treatment and monitoring.”
Two years ago, Addo-Carr was sacked by the Bulldogs after failing a roadside drug test
The NRL may not formally announce the sanction should the Eels rip up his contract given he will no longer be a registered player.
However this column has learnt that should a club want him and the NRL allow him back into the game then the 31-year-old will have a long stint on the sidelines.
The former NSW flyer has been in a rehabilitation facility since his positive test result.
Addo-Carr was driving in Sydney’s inner-west along Enmore Road in Newtown when he was stopped for a test just days after he played in Parramatta’s final game of the season.
This time last year, Addo-Carr had returned to the Kangaroos line-up and was part of Australia’s extended World Cup squad before the positive test.
He was sacked by Canterbury in 2024 after he again failed a roadside drug test.
Addo-Carr looked to have resurrected his career with the Eels with Parramatta officials talking glowingly of his impact at the club on and off the field since his arrival in 2025.

Well if the cap fits Seraph! the only nerves being hit exist in your twisted self esteem.
PS Euthanasia is not a "dirty word" I personally would not hesitate when the time comes!
Only in your own little bubble do you think you have struck a nerve with me.
The cap of you being a digusting waste of a human being? I see you wear that one proudly.
I guess I just occupy that last functional space of your brain where you have the need to try to get the last word, so just keep throwing your barbs out
Typical Ploppa reaction. Make false statement, get called out on it, backtrack, personally attack person, needle other parties in commentary.
Time for you to go back inside to sit by the window and yell at the birds in your yard
You describe a scene of "empathy" but we all know that your directive is actually "sarcasm" nothing there that doesn't change your lack of security.
Its nice to know that you have studied me to a level of "typical Ploppa reaction" It would put in doubt of course any empathy with someone as "demented or decaying" sitting by the window and yelling at the birds in his yard. It seems that I am so certainly inside your head that some nerve must be being struck! LOL
Another rambling non sequitur with a random photo.
How to say you've run out of things to say without saying it. Another genius post mate.
Your old man would be ashamed of your behaviour
I suspect I am supposed to be upset by references to my father.
My father who has passed was never ashamed only proud, especially when I was presented with the Australian Sports Medal in 2000 ......personally I don't think it was a big deal but Dad was happy.
Under the circumstances and nothing to do with my father I think it is better that you get over your obsessions Seraph, it has made you look pretty sad in this whole discourse.
Old saying I love to make is FIFO.... fit in or fuck off....please yourself, I don't carry grudges.
No obsession here old mate. Just calling you on your slanderous BS statements you like to throw around and would be the first to cry foul if anyone else had made them.
nice try for attempting to deflect from the original argument.
Try again champ
Give ir rest Seraph, you just make yourself look more stupid everytime you open your mouth.....end of any further conversation's. FIFO
Seems I did strike a nerve after all.
By the way, generalisation or not, you still haven't answer the original question of how you know so many NRL players are on coke... such an absurd statement.
Did you make it so that you can play down JACs offence? Essentially trying to make is a "oh they all do it, its not a big deal" to justify your opinion on the matter like it counts for something.
C'est la vie champ
I only drink white spirts . Not big on brown . Will have a JD or Turkey here and there. Certainly wouldnt knock off a bottle.
Do have a weakness for a hot thai gobby .
doesnt change my stance that JAC driving again is a sackable offence if we are a club on the rise .
If I thought sacking JAC effected our wanting to be a club on the rise, then I would be at the head of the queue.
There are a few things that are happening that pass that particular need, as a priority!
PS The sackable offence is not in question....that alternative is not in question. The want and need is the only question!
