      • Agreed - Easts would have 2 /3 cards up their sleaves and there was talk of Cleary as per below when this came out, along his dad.

        • Yeah the only thing that leaves me wondering is the fact that East's went to the Walker meeting expecting to sign him. So they obviously haven't pursued Cleary with full intentions as yet. Then again , it is uncle nick so he'd probably have a Cleary / Walker halves combo in mind lol.

I guess now we will see , he very well could've left the Walker meet and called Cleary from the car with the largest offer the worlds ever seen just to prove a point 😂😂

          • Yes it will be interesting but as I said I would think Easts have had a card up their sleeve all along. They would have back up plans all along and I reckon some managers would have reached out - if all this comes to fruition and Walker does not stay. Moses?

            • No doubt the first thing Mitch would do is retire from rep footy if he went to Easts 😂😂😂

But nah, it'd mean punting his manager as politis refuses to deal with him.

  • It's a shame if we lose him, but you don't win comps if you chase these types of players.

  • Every game herbie is a cutting teams I don't see that with Best

  • He's solid. The type of player you're happy to have in your top 19, but you're not winning big games with Samrani as your starting centre.

    • Yeah agreed. If we had that top rated game breaking centre then you could argue a case for a Samrani type reliable defensive centre, but we don't have that at the moment.

  • Cool if he stays, cool if he goes. He's not the kind of player you lose sleep over, he will likely play for multiple clubs before his career is over...a very typical journeyman player - versatile and thus good enough to be in the Top 30 squads, but not "shoot the lights out" good enough to be first pick in any spot.

I'd ilke to keep him, but we definitely shouldn't get into a bidding war. If he can get better than fair market value elsewhere, then c'est la vie.

  • Samrani's versatility would be very handy as the Eels go into 2027 AGAIN short on depth in the outside backs. Hell we're even short on starters.
