Is it really a flex or do they know he isn't taking up their offer so are trying to save face by making the first move?, you know, I'm not dumped you are.

Oh and do you honestly think the chooks are concerned about their reputation in this instance? Perhaps a few folk on here should advise them of supply/demand factors and that the cap is increasing as well because they're probably unaware lol.
It's a huge flex. He went there to sign the contract , however asked for a little more money after agreeing to a price. If they caved , they'd have been announcing his signature.
His manager royally fucked up by breaking the unspoken rules of business ethics, lost all credibility. He so wouldn't have counted on Uncle Nick spitting the dummy and outing his poor form. Believe me when I say, it's huge damage to Walkers camps reputation. Now everyone that deals with them will have this in the back of mind. I'm never going in with my best offer in good faith, which you often do to get a deal done nice and quick , but can only be done when there's mutual respect and trust.
Uncle Nick won this one hands down. Fantastic business and why people respect him. Our club could learn a thing or two out of this. Do we think Uncle Nick would find himself with dopes like Galvin going back and fourth behind his back for weeks only to lose at the 11th hour ? Or have players like Moses playing him off against shit clubs like Wests to squeeze every cent out of him ? He most certainly wouldn't be begging Paulo back after his plans fell through after he'd cleaned his desk out to go elsewhere.

It's pretty obvious It's a flex in this instance but it's only a win for the roosters if walker comes back with his tail between his legs and begs for a new deal or the roosters sign cleary.
Nah not really JC , it's a flex regardless. They still have Walker locked away for 2027, I'm sure they'll find someone in the meantime. It's a huge statement that nobody's bigger than their club. In the long run they've made a statement and dodged a bullet of poor culture. This flex will be positive for them for years.
Will the next pair of pissants like Shitcofski and Walker hold them over a barrel ? Hell no. Every fair contract they put on the table will be signed in record time . And players they have will be ensuring their managers don't dick around . They'll save millions and many man hours of bullshit with this flex regardless of whether Walker comes back dish in hand or not. Walker looked to be their Moses anyways, every negotiation would be an auction, which then eats away at other players . They did the best thing distancing themselves of a greedy little grub. Look at how our contract negotiations went after lord Flufferson pulled it off here . Every player was an auction or had player favoured terms inserted. Nope , table a fair offer , give them suitable time , come back for one round of fine tuning where everyone gets to table their walk away offer , then fuck them off if they wish to negotiate after that.

Completely agree Wiz.
And Clinton Schifcofske has demonstrated himself, yet again, to be completely inept. He fucked Zac Lomax and now he's fucked Sam Walker.
Yup , both SW and CS got a lesson here. I love it. If only we had the same balls with Issac .

The Walker call that sparked fuming Roosters’ backflip... and why he could leave NOW Max Laughton and Fox League from Fox Sports October 27th, 2026 7:32 am The Sydney Roosters have withdrawn their contract offer for Sam Walker beyond 2027.
The 24-year-old had reportedly been keen to restart talks with the NRL premiers after they were paused in August due to a disagreement on his price tag.
According to Code Sports, the gun halfback informed his management that he wanted to remain at the Roosters, requesting a contract be finalised last week prior to his Test debut.
His team met with Tricolours officials on Monday, who were confident Walker’s camp had agreed to their fresh offer — a three-year deal worth $1.2 million per-season, with ratchet clauses that could inflate his salary to $1.4 million.
After mulling over the contract tabled, Walker’s agent reportedly requested a “slight upgrade” according to News Corp, angering supremo Nick Politis.
Politis then made the decision to withdraw the Roosters’ offer immediately.
The Tricolours reportedly also won’t stand in Walker’s way should he wish to depart ahead of the 2027 season, but the club will honour his current deal which runs until the of next year.
In a statement on Monday night, the Roosters confirmed they had withdrawn their contract offer.
