  • The Parramatta Eels and Michael Jennings have today agreed to bring to an end the terms of Mr Jennings’ playing contract.

Mr Jennings is the subject of an ongoing process with Sports Integrity Australia (SIA).

Mr Jennings has been with the Eels since 2016 and based on its experience with Mr Jennings over the last 5 years, Parramatta does not consider that Mr Jennings would intentionally take performance-enhancing substances.

However, in recognition that the SIA process will take some time to play out, Parramatta and Mr Jennings have agreed to part ways because Mr Jennings wishes to allow the team to fill his position and have the best 2021 and 2022 seasons possible.

Parramatta and Mr Jennings respect the integrity of the SIA process and do not propose to comment further at this stage.

    • Thanks Rabz

      • All good mate.

        • I just got it as an email from the club. I have mixed emotions with this and would like to see MJ get ahead in his life, MJ thank you for your commitment to the club, players and supporters, would have been great to see you win a comp with the eels, but not to unfortunately be.

May you and your family enjoy life post footbal thanks for your contribution.

    • There was a big falling out with him and the club not long ago, things got pretty bad between him and the club.

Good to hear weve parted ways

  • Okay, so it looks like a deal was made where the club stands by and supports Jenko, and if he's found innocent, he'll come back with a new contract or compensation, or something along those lines.

Until that happens, Jenko's current salary goes back into our active salary cap, giving us the ability to recruit. A well-managed resolution to a crappy situation. Well played to both Jenko and Eels.

I would love nothing more for Jennings to be found innocent, just because his legacy deserves to be remembered as an amazing player, and not a drug cheat... but time will tell.

    • Do we get exemption because he hasn't played for us at all this season?

    • You can invent any sort of scenario you wish mate.- FACT ! We will never know.

Yes the club has made a very clear statement where they stand on this, and I applaud them for being direct and to the point in what they have said.

Best of luck for the future MJ, and like the club I do not think you are the sort of person to 'cheat" in this manner.

I am so sad it all ended up this way for everyone.

Does this herald a rather large announcement is imminent?

      • I don't quite understand your top line here Sir Col, but obviously my take on the scenario is an assumption...

        • Speculating on what has, or what has not actually gone on behid the scenes.

Btw, is MJ entitled to any sort of payout of contract or anything else?
