Jenkins to the Eels?

Some early Friday morning scuttlebutt on Facebook saying Eels have made an offer to sign Thomas Jenkins from the Panthers. I really have no idea if this is true or the validity behind the rumours, but this is a signing I can definitely get behind. Hopefully we've made him a great offer that puts Penrith in a difficult position to retain him. They have Tago and To'o on around $800k each, Alomoti and McClean on moderate deals, so it's a stacked backline and someone's gotta go, and they can't keep them all.

Jenkins is young and has a great career ahead of him, if we storm in with slightly overs for 3+ years it will be a great investment because we're shit at developing wingers. Let's hope this rumour is true 🤞

  1. Iongi
  2. Addo-Car
  3. Nanva
  4. Penisini
  5. Jenkins

That's a solid backline to build on.

        • Yep

          • Well then for 500k a year amd can play anywhere in the backs is a farkin bargain.

          • That makes him a $600k winger, and yeah than he's a good value get. It gives us elite coverage if we lose our 5/8, FB, or winger.

Parra need to get this done ASAP.

            • He has only played Centre and Wing in Cup and NRL. Not sure where the talk of him playing 1 & 6 came from but he hasn't played either in open age footy.

    • I think Simmo is just about done with this recent injury, sadly. That's a big mountain for him to climb.

      • Unfortunately i agree Clintorian. If anything he will miss some of next year.

        • I think now Simmo's role becomes depth and experience amongst the team, but not really a priority 1st Grader.

          • He might say I want to go elsewhere to start and so be it. But yeah his injury may lead him to miss a portion of 2027. Surely he wouldn't be sweet to just jump right in playing he'd need time in Cup.

      • Correct very much doubt he'll be back to his best.

    • Either Jenkins or Simo to left centre to replace Russel?
