Jenkins to the Eels?

Some early Friday morning scuttlebutt on Facebook saying Eels have made an offer to sign Thomas Jenkins from the Panthers. I really have no idea if this is true or the validity behind the rumours, but this is a signing I can definitely get behind. Hopefully we've made him a great offer that puts Penrith in a difficult position to retain him. They have Tago and To'o on around $800k each, Alomoti and McClean on moderate deals, so it's a stacked backline and someone's gotta go, and they can't keep them all.

Jenkins is young and has a great career ahead of him, if we storm in with slightly overs for 3+ years it will be a great investment because we're shit at developing wingers. Let's hope this rumour is true 🤞

  1. Iongi
  2. Addo-Car
  3. Nanva
  4. Penisini
  5. Jenkins

That's a solid backline to build on.

  • Yep, been in touch with someone saying we are close

    • Ok well that's better than just saying FB chief as I have seen so many fan sites just post random stuff. But if you have someone with connections, amazing

      • The only reason I posted it was because there were multiple people posting about it, possibly 4-5 sources. This means it could be just his manager working overtime to press Panthers into making a deal, or there is a genuine attempt to go to the Eels.

        • Well if there is more than one place posting, there usually is a bit of smoke.

I reckon Jenkins, if offered a good deal like $500k 3 year deal he would take it. Penrith then would move on as they normally do.

    • Spill it Chiefy...

    • Maybe if he's offered a centre spot, that would be the big carrot.

As for the rest of the 2027 backline, I'd go with Samrani over Nanva for the wing/centre.

  • Id get tago to replace Nanva, we need  an x factor or speed in that centre, but Nanva i would love to see him develop more. His D is what won us the game on sunday.

  • Someone on FB said -
"Why would you go from the foot of the mountains to the foot of the ladder."

    • The same reason so many Panthers went to Canterbury and Wests. Money

      • Spot on!
