                    • Bahaha  !!!   poppy  since the  Bradman  era it's you  that's  been living  in denial  .... i see 3 pair's  of white  socks.

                    • Geeez Poppa that's rough having both shoulders redone, maybe leave your hotdog alone for a bit.

                    • The dog ain't that hot anymore Krupty, but with a bit of sauce and a touch of mustard..... you never know? lol

                • Kendoza, and as we know when companies know its tax funded money they increase the costs of everything....the $$$ thrown at this is a scam; i get we don't want China on our doorstep but seriously throwing  $600 million at this; it could end in tears.

                  • Mitchy, an easy way to get $600 million is simply to claw back at least 1.5% of the $40 billion per annum foregone revenue due to giving gas away to foreign multinationals. That is, just make royalties on gas 1.5% more efficient.

                    Problem solved!

Or . . . cancel just one submarine from the terminally ridiculous $368 billion out to 2050 we are going to spend on nuclear submarines (obsolete before we get them). That's just one sub at $8 billion and we could fund the football teams from every island in the Asia-Pacific!

                    • I tend to agree Prof Daz; and also maybe just ask Mr Chalmers to cut govt spending which is contributing to inflation; there you go Daz we can solve it; and maybe cut the immigration firstly, and then focus on skilled workers (means less on welfare / medicare etc); NDIS and also the debt free student loans. You and I can sort it. NDIS has been rorted as seen here in NSW and Vic.

                    • Mitchy, you've got to stop taking your economic plans DIRECTLY from the Libs. Most economists argue for boosting immigration to relieve labour shortage pressures and reduce inflation. Once that becomes 'cut migration but boost skilled migrant labour', it turns out that looming contradiction has a racially tinged solution coupled with performstivity about skills. The industries serviced by the skilled labour are actually unskilled labour like fruit picking, and to mask what's actually happening the One Nation wing of political right (now half the libs) start a culture war about foreign students and immigrants magically accessing NDIS the day after landing.

Similarly, cutting gov't spending is also over-generalized. If you increase gov't spending by subsidizing child care you increase labour force participation and reduce inflation. You could also cut gov't spending on the fuel tax credit scheme and thus stop subsidizing fossil fuel consumption (it's a supply and demand tax all at once!) and constrain demand to reduce inflation but that would see gas companies start a culture war about civilization collapsing if Johnny can't drive the RAM at 25l/100km.

The only way out of all that mess is stop using bland cure-all rhetoric that tries to use immigration and government spending as if either can be painted with one brush.

                    • Well that's one person's view, but this is not the place to discuss it, is it DAZ!

"Daz,
No posts have been deleted.
No-one's been suspended.
Everyone's said their piece.
The discussion is now degenerating into trash-talk identity politics: ‘Leftie’ this, ‘Right Wing’ that.
So, I’m closing the blog. Let's move on, please."
