        • There was talks that PNG will have tax exempt money. So for top talent, they could be earning 45% more I.8 on 1mil you'd be saving 450K on tax. That along will have people lining up. For this reason I'm much more worried for png than bears

        • PnG is a stupid idea from start to finish.  Why ?  Well what is the sole reason for the game expanding ? To generate further income for the game.  Nothing more nothing less.  So what's the long term goal here , for the NrL or tax payers to support this franchise forever ?  The average income in Australia is what 5 x that of PNG ?  And the average family would be stretched these days to take the whole family to a few games per year , then throw in jerseys , etc.   do we think the ticket prices in PNG will be the same as what we pay ?  And yet the clubs will have you believe that that must charge these prices to make it viable.

So either the game in PNG is going to be propped up by the paying fans here , or they're going to have empty stadiums .  It's a fucking token team , and it'll be a drain on NrL fans here.  Literally the games version of a welfare recipient club which will eventually be folded .

  • They should be taking now, media even saying that is a priority. His next deal will take him to 2030. Question is money, ideally before he plays Origin. Could be around $800k mark.

    • Walsh and Ponga will be picked  over him

      • Walsh sure but he is rather injury prone. I think ponga mostly done atp, I'd take Iongi over him over the next few years

        • Ponga at his best is as good as Walsh.

          • I disagree. Ponga has nowhere near the skill set Walsh has and I'm not bagging Ponga but Walsh is a freak. Walsh is faster, stronger and a superior kicking game. I also think Walsh is a better student of the game, Ponga is naturally gifted but hasn't really gone to another level especially at club land. Whilst Slater was the best fullback ever based on his record, Hayne was the best fullback I ever saw talent wise and Walsh is not far behind Hayne. If Walsh can limit some of his errors and get find the right balance he could be the best ever. He has time on his side.

      • Obviously EA

Ponga who could be going to Rugby for all we know. Walsh yes. Iongi won't be picked anytime soon but don't want to risk it either that he plays Origin with Ponga and Walsh out.

  • He should be backing himself to get even better rather than settle for a 10 years at good but not potentially optimal $$.

Another 4 years at good money initially and then both sides of the equation can see what the go is. Ideally, another 4 + years at a lot more.

    • Yeah something around that 3-4 year deal extension. No club should be going near those 10 year disaster deals avoid that lol.
