I thought we played ok last night

I wasn't able to properly watch the game last night as I was out having dinner at a pub. I probably wasn't the best company as my eyes were often on the TV near me.From what I saw I thought we did ok. We seemed to match Souths in most areas. Other than poor goal kicking in woeful conditions, dumb penalties and a couple of knock ons at unfortunate times, we looked like we were playing well. That poor read in defence for their last try was disappointing and ultimately was the difference between the two sides.Like you, I wish we had more wins this year than we currently have. I still think we can turn things around though.I understand people are frustrated and want somewhere to vent. I just don't think last night's performance is one to be particularly disappointed about.

  • Very well said camo.
  • agreed!

  • Well if we were 5wins we could say it was ok. But we're only 3 wins and need more wins. So it really isn't ok cause this is now two weeks in a row where we should have won and taken our opportunities.
    • If we had 3-4 more wins we'd be in the 8 and we'd all be feeling much happier.
I think we have too good a side to finish in the bottom 4 this year.
I remember being depressed in 1997 when we started the year with about 1 win and 5 losses. Then we clicked and made the semi finals for the first time in over a decade. I still have (a little) faith in this year's side.
  • We lost because of Chrissy Sandow

  • At least we have been in most games this year and no 50 point drubbings.
    • I think that's important to remember
  • I thought we were better than ok I thought we played well. Yet we still lost so what does that tell you?
  • We played OK. But in the final 20 mins our lack of high level skill application hurt us. Sandow dropped the ball twice (once in the opposition 40 and once on our line). Mannah and Mau dropped balls in the opposition 40 and 20. Norman rolled the ball over the dead ball line and Kelly failed to find the in-goal. We conceded off side penalties. We missed tackles, including in the final try (poor read).

In the end, the game was there to be won, we had luck on our side (Fass non penalty, Ma'u try), we just needed to execute when it counted. And we couldn't. Just like the end of 2014. We lack that extra level of ability to execute skills and maintain mental focus. Without it, don't get carrier away that close losses signal an imminent turn around. Instead, the close losses may just lead to less confidence and the spoon will approach fast. Put simply, BA needs to show he can squeeze more out of his team.
    • I agree but that is exactly what Foran and Scott will bring. Composure to finish off games and plenty of experience.
